Kylan Midwood from the U15s starts
Bit of a catch 22 Bush if he’s a complete unknown you’re right it may draw attention to him by playing him in the age groups above. However, if he is already on clubs radar it shows the lad that United are prepared to accelerate his development based on his performances and that his pathway here is open hoping that might make him more inclined to stay.If he’s from the u15s then he won’t be under contract. So why stick him in the shop window? So someone like Spurs can come in a poach him for a pitiful amount?
Why? He’s a kid, not a chattel. He should be allowed to play where he wants. We should be compensated for what we’ve spent so far in developing him. You can argue that the compensation isn’t sufficient but I don’t believe clubs should have a massive hold over players at that age. What a purile, rotten system.
They shouldn't be able to take anyone until they are 18 and they should have to pay a massive transfer fee for the development.
It's just greed. No doubt they'll sell him to Southampton in 5 years and claim some sort of credit for it and the 10m+ that goes with it.
Meanwhile, us who were brave enough to find him, recognise his talent, show faith in him to push him up levels probably get his bus fare refunded.
It makes me angry things like this. Do they not have enough stacked in their favour as it is. Bad enough all the monies from their owners, from the PL, from the CL yet they also get to siphon off talent at the bottom for a pittance when clubs lower down depend on it.
It's bullshit. It really is.
You are right in the first part. It is the second part which I feel is grossly unfair. Why? He’s a kid, not a chattel. He should be allowed to play where he wants. We should be compensated for what we’ve spent so far in developing him. You can argue that the compensation isn’t sufficient but I don’t believe clubs should have a massive hold over players at that age.
I think Ndaiye and Arblaster show the point of the academy. You are right in the first part. It is the second part which I feel is grossly unfair.
If he goes on to be a 10m player then they should be forced to compensate accordingly. Not, here's 10k finder's fee or whatever pathetic figure it is.
Otherwise, what's the point of the Academy?
Or, to quote Mike Tyson, maybe he'll fade into Bolivian.Fuck him and his greedy family
Let's hope he fades into Non league
Bit harsh. The lad has the chance to go and train and develop at the best facilities in the country, probably with the best coaches. We have Shirecliffe and it's boggy pitches. No matter how big a Blade that's not a difficult choice.Fuck him and his greedy family
Let's hope he fades into Non league
Taking opportunities that life gives you is hardly greed.Fuck him and his greedy family
Let's hope he fades into Non league
Who are the examples? Just curious.as has happened with players in the past.
Reed went to Man U and came back he’s the most high profile one I can think of we also had a lad leave for Arsenal at a young age then come back here but he didn’t end up getting a pro contract with United I can’t remember the name though.Who are the examples? Just curious.
