U18s away at Crystal Palace

I've just sat down in the East Dulwich Tavern after a thoroughly enjoyable nil nil for the U18s away at Crystal Palace. Played behind closed doors at Dulwich Hamlet FC. (A new ground tick for me). Andre Brooks really caught my eye.

I know you are now the gang master for ticket organisation, but I am puzzled that you watched a match played behind closed doors. Or was it a sell-out, and they had to close the doors?

Glad you got that one done, they’re hoping to build a new ground next door. I’ll be making a trip later in the season for my annual pilgrimage. East Dulwich Tavern is decent too.
I might just have come down myself if I’d realised they were playing there today.

Do you mean in the ground, in the clubhouse? I got binned out of there. Palace had basically rented the ground for the day.

There’s a very decent bar behind the seats in the main stand which from memory serve DHFC branded beer/ larger. You can watch the match from inside or take your drinks outside which is a novelty to us big league fans. I think the ground capacity is about 3000 at the moment which is quite often fully sold out. Very well supported for a club in the sixth tier. They were locked out by the landlords, a property developer for nearly a year over unpaid debts allegedly and had to ground share with Tooting and Mitchum. The current plans are to build some houses on the present playing area and build the new ground on the knackered Astro turf training pitch next to the supermarket adjacent to Champion Hill ground.
I believe there are more decent pubs beyond the EDT further up Lordship Lane, something I plan to checkout on my next visit.

Yeah I did

Hop Burn & Black (craft beer bottle shop) but think closes earlyish (maybe 8pm) is nearby. East Dulwich Tavern is an Antic but a good one with about 8 cask all local.

I went to Hop Burns & Black. Nice & friendly. But basically you can drink bottles & tins in. But not draught craft. That is Growlers, not pints. I thanked them, but walked out without a drink. Left EDT awhile back. Now enjoying Brew By Numbers, Barrel thingy up towards "the Rye'

Sorry. I've just read again some of my posts immediately after the U18 game at Dulwich Hamlet. I wanted to clarify, as I don't want to imply any criticism of DHFC. The clubhouse bar, behind the main stand, did SW12 to S12 to S18 look very nice as I looked in through the windows. But, that bar was basically closed. Because it was a Palace game, not a Hamlet game, Palace were in charge of what was open, and what was allowed, and how it all worked. (Hence Palace declaring it Behind Closed Doors). A handful of staff were working in the bar, getting it all ready & shipshape for Saturday's Hamlet home game. Natch, I tried to blag in at half time. But, they politely explained it wasn't open & they were prepping. My previous phrase "binned out" was not what actually happened.
