We're getting our best Clobber out of the wardrobe for the trip later this afternoon to Bishop Auckland FC for SUFC U18 away at Middlesbrough in the 3rd Round of the FA Youth Cup. Big Blade Alert - look away now - that'll be the 213th different ground I've seen an SUFC XI play on.
Finishes tonight, extra time & penalties. Winners go to Derby away in the next round.
Away Youth Cup games are my favourite away days. I'll try to give Team & Goal updates on my Twitter

And, in due course, a full autopsy on my Blog

Went to Bishop Auckland's ground in December 1989 (no match being played that day) as a fan was showing me round the ground. I remember the pitch had an obvious slope. They were a strong amateur side in the 1950s when the FA Amateur Cup finals had attendances of 100,000!

People were still calling their kids ‘Terry’ less than 20 years ago?

Who is Leonardo Gaxhia?
(I think it's actually Gaxha). Anyway Leo is an Irish lad (from Kerry I think). He's played for Ireland in Age Group Teams. (As have Jordan Doherty & Stephen Mallon, although they are too old for the Youth Cup). He's basically a striker. Not all that tall. Relies more on pace & fox in the box stuff. I've not seen a great deal of him tbh

I've just looked through tonight's fixtures, and there's an Azerbaijan outfit playing at Arsenal that's nicked your firms name.
Dear, dear me Dnblade. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure you're a knowledgeable football fan. For instance, you'll have heard of Red Bull Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg & New York Red Bulls. Let me spell it out. Three football teams who changed their name to reflect a major sponsorship deal. Maybe you're less familiar with Mehsul FK (4th Azerbaijani Championship 1966), Shafaq FK & Co-Operative Society FC (translated from the original). It was only after an approach by CBF intermediaries in 1988 that the club with those previous names who are playing Arsenal tonight changed their name to Qarabag FK.
The CBF were and are against both Franchise Clubs & moaning cuckoo clubs like AFC Wimbledon (thankfully not the original Wimbledon) stealing grounds from smaller clubs like Kingstonian FC. So, we have kept our philanthropic investment in (now known as) Qarabag FK quiet until now. They have not nicked our firm's name. Everything has been bought & paid for. Here endeth the History Lesson.

Ahh right, thanks for the history lesson pal,and good to hear it's all above board...it just be tough for CBF in these days of a bag for life.

It's what as calling Mrs ISC years before the bloody supermarkets started issuing their versions.

If I'd copyrighted the term 'bag for life' and I had 5p for evertime I heard someone say it, I'd have over £3.85 by now.

I'd have expected the CBF to upgrade to more heavy duty load bearers, a la Roy:

CBF will be pleased to know I've shunned the BFL,mainly because I can't be arsed, and it's only the uneasy atmosphere of the self check out when they queery whether I have scanned all my 5p bags that's making me rethink.

Good day out yesterday at Bishop Auckland. Couple of pints in 'Spoons and something to eat.

Bedlam before kick off, official tickets were in demand, members of the CBF panicking. Saw one of them mugging the Derby County Scout to get some.

Bloody cold but a good win for the lads. Thank god he missed that penalty.

Gave some of the CBF a lift home, they were asleep before Darlington. Can't handle their ale

A player called Bob Hardisty played wing half for Bishop Auckland at that time Silent. I believe he was captain of the England Amateur side as well.

May I please ask for some slack to be cut? I basically heard the final whistle at Bishop Auckland, "navigated" the CBF Car 2 driver home, went to Beddy Byes. Got up, and went on a Brewery Visit. So, I've only just got around to writing my match report Blog from the U18s v Boro in the Youth Cup. Helpfully, it's also got a beer report from a completely different Brewery visit on the way to Reading. Anyway, Youth Cup, Round 3, we WON. Got to be worth a read ain't it?
