With the first friendly of the season fast approaching, I wanted to start generating some more donations for the George Baldock foundation.

For those who haven't seen my other posts, I am doing a bike ride linking the EFL clubs George played for, its a total of 250km and I will do it on 14th August to raise money for the foundation.

Why am I doing it? to be honest, I am not really sure, I just know how much he meant to so many of us and I wanted to do something.

so far, donations total £495, with lots of very generous amounts given from supporters across the clubs.

However, the point to me has always been for the fans to be able to support collectively.

This is why I am going to try and push the message: Two for George.

The combined ground capacity of these clubs is 83,253.

If 83,000 supporters each gave just 2 × 10p, together we could raise more than £16,000.

if anyone is happy to donate, the link is below:

If anyone knows of any pubs or businesses who would be willing to put a poster up, please could you let me know as well. I am not based in Sheffield so need some help spreading the word.

I know times are tough financially for so many people, finding £5 or £10 seems a lot to ask. Would be great to see lots of little bits of support where possible.

No problem with Wednesday fans coming on here to give their point of view.

Do have a problem with dickheads on the wind-up.

Ban ‘em.

Re posters, try emailing some of the local breweries with a few pubs? Thornbridge, Neepsend, Abbeydale etc.
For online stuff try Sheffield Forum on FB (guessing they allow charity stuff?). Also the Postcode groups on FB are worth a try.

Triple point might be worth reaching out to. Close to the ground and I think they have done Blades themed beers and stuff before?

Thanks both, I will get in touch with those and see how I get on. Really appreciate the ideas.

Thank you also for the donations 👏

Sorry pal, is this aimed at me?

Promise you, no wind up here (not even using a wind up bike for the ride...)

Im in touch with all the clubs, the George Baldock foundation and the justgiving link does directly to them.

I think you might have got your wires crossed, here, FF.

I don't think he's a pig, and he's definitely not on the wind up - he's legitimately trying to do good work to raise money for the George Baldock Foundation, which is something I think we all applaud.

I'd assumed he was either a Blade or an MK fan, but I might have got that wrong, but whatever his connection to the GB Foundation, he's legitimately trying to raise money for them, afaik.

Sorry, I should probably have put more context. I had posted previously in the George Baldock thread.

I am a Blade, I am a regular poster on the forum but didn't want to use that account as I am putting my real name out there.

If you have 5 minutes and dont mind listening to an idiot ramble on, here is a video I did a few weeks ago, explaining a bit more.

Big thank you to Triple Point, Cricketers, Fanny's, The Albion and The Rutland who have said they will put up a poster about the ride.

Pretty worrying when you go on the Star website and you are featured as "Blades Top Stories"... Where's transfer news?!

Count down is on now.

Just done a schedule of my ride for Friday.

Thank you to Gavlar for letting me use his song he did for the playoff final.

If anyone sees a middle aged bloke struggling on the Sheffield hills on friday evening, please give us a shout.

fund raising is currently at £824, thank you to everyone who has donated and supported.

I am very excited for 5.30 on Saturday, apologies if I fall asleep on anyone sat in the Kop....

Nice one, Blade. Possibly stupid question, but am I missing the link?
So its the EFL clubs that Baldock played for. Not in the right order either.

Should have included Tamworth but it was miles out of the way!

Panathaninaikos will also have to maybe be a separate ride...

Apparently he also had a loan spell at a team in Iceland... didn't fancy that?

Finished a bit later than planned, but ride completed.

To summarise, Oxford to Northampton, lovely riding.

The Midlands can fuck off

The Derbyshire hills almost broke me.

Once I was in Sheffield, I was climbing like a mountain goat.

Thanks for all your support Blades, meant a lot.

Hoping the donations help the foundation do some good work keeping George's legacy growing.

Cheers Starman, wish we got to see you in your 2 shirt, just one more time
