Trying to convert some

Several of my co-workers watch the Prem but of course are fans of Man U or Arsenal mainly. When asking them why, their response is always the same,'They get the most coverage' Or 'Everyone else is.'

To me that's a pretty shit excuse to support a club.Yes they do get the most coverage here in the States, but who really gives a fuck.

Long story short, I've had some conversations with a few of them about me being a newer but still already fervent Blade supporter, and how the Blades are a proper club and not a plastic or bandwagon one like Arsenal,Man U,etc.

Trying my best to convert some of them into being a Blade, but if they insist on sticking with what they got then piss on them.

I myself love the Blades already: Fans I have interacted with on here and other places have been awesome and I am so happy I started watching us.

Whatever happens this upcoming season, I am going to enjoy the ride, and develop my affinity for the club even more.

UTB.:D

Well good for you mate and I trust you will continue this missionary work in what is arguably the most foreign country on Earth.

I’ve had many conversations about English “soccer” with Americans - having worked for US companies for many years and regularly visited.

They just don’t get it.

They tell me that a game over there isn’t really about the football. It’s a day out. They park up and get the barbie out. Have parties, play music, dance, eat, and eat some more, oh, and they go to the game.

A team there might decide to up and move to a different part of the US - no qualms. And the folks left behind will go and watch whoever else is “in town”, whilst their new hosts will flock to go see them. “Pop up” support!

There’s none of the tribal rivalry, the history, the tradition, the hatred or sense of allegiance that we have here.

There’s no mood swing, no elation, no despair, at a result. It’s all just “awesome”.

I think you’ve got a tough job on there mate, but you are a disciple and keep up the good work!

I mean if we all think about it, it makes sense to follow teams who feature regularly on TV, living somewhere which is 5-8 hours behind the uk and at least 3000 miles away from the nearest PL stadium what’s point in choosing a team you can’t watch?

Fair play to you though Yank welcome along for the ride

Some great points pal. I will admit that I used to be just like the ones you mentioned; just going to a sporting event or watching one on tv and just having fun drinking, eat, etc and not really losing sleep regardless of what the result was.
However, over the past few years I have really changed my tune in that regard and consider myself a passionate supporter of the teams I support and do get down or quite happy when a result occurs(When my NHL team(Hurricanes) lost in the Eastern Finals recently I threw the controller at the tv and broke one of my ladies vases lol).
As have stated I love that I chose the Blades and yes pal it will be a tough job but I am going to keep at it. The hell with the plastic clubs like Arsenal and Man U.

You missed then, from what, 5 feet? You really are a Blade.
Must have been a Simmonesque type throw.........

In other news Nasa has just announced that the International Space Station has just received a new tv controller.....:)

Woohooooooo lots more smileys....👀

Good on yer. What about the history angle - Bramall Lane oldest professional football stadium, Sheffield the home of football etc. They like that sort of thing over there don't they?

Except it isn't the oldest professional football stadium.

I know. You have to add in "major" to sort of make it true. Or at least not slanderous ;)

Or add "in continuous use in the Football League" as Mansfield dropped down to the Conference for a while. I was aware it is a contentious claim.

Never mind 'when Saturday comes' just show them the 1925 FA cup final on Pathe News - and then finish with our county cup glories, that'll do the trick :)

Tell them that if they don’t convert then we will be left with no choice but to shag all their women and drink all their beer when we play them next season.
