Well according to all things me lol, we get £30m, which is quite a few bob more than we've had anytime previously

Go with the flo..........................it'll be reyt :)
Let's hope we get some sell on money through then because that is not enough, even in the hands of miracle worker wilder

Could be way wrong and someone please correct me if I am wrong

We already have a £15-£20m wage bill so that means + £30m = we'll be at £50m

The £170m that you you quote includes parachute payments should we be relegated. Parachute payments total £70m over 3 years so we have £50m spare.

£10m put away for a rainy day in Jan window (CW likes to have a budget in Jan)

£10m for ground and academy improvements + any additional staff

A few bob in the bank, debt paying, and other running costs

You're not assuming that the £170m will go on squad building are you?
It’s not our only source of income. We still have gate money and sponsorship on top. I’d guess it will be closer to a minimum of £120m.

You’re right that we don’t want to be carrying a wage bill of more than around £40m because we’d struggle to cover more than that if we went down, without selling our best players (assuming we do have some that look ok in a relegation season). I also agree that CW will keep some back for the JTW.

So I’d expect something between £30-50m spent on transfer fees, assuming one of the current owners retains ownership and doesn’t put any of their own money in.

I hope we don't go and give silly contracts out or we'll end up in the same shit that the likes of villa,Derby, our friends across the city , stoke etc are in.

Are you on the wind up or have you not grasped the situation.

We now have much more revenue than Villa, Derby and our friends across the city.
We can blow those clubs out of the water regards transfer targets and wages.

Listen carefully.......with 150 million a season we can afford to pay everyone 50K a week wages,
those clubs you mentioned can’t afford it and would be in breach of FFP.
The key is to include relegation clauses so salaries are reduced and still affordable.

Someone needs to do a report on how the finances of an average PL club compare to the bigger Championship clubs.
The gap is HUGE.......I read a report the other day that AFC Bournemouth are one of the richest clubs in Europe.

"So I’d expect something between £30-50m spent on transfer fees,"

Not for me. Might be that figure if it includes all the extra prem salaries but not just on fees

You are right though, that there are other forms of revenue

Will either of the two owners be entitled to take back any of the monies they have pumped in? The Primce and McCabe have chucked a few millions on over the past 3 years. Are they loans or gifts?

Theoretically we can afford to pay those wages yes all I'm saying is we won't! There's absolutely no chance we'll spend between 30-50 mil on new players it just won't happen!

Dunno, I’m not their accountant and I’m fucked if I’m reading the accounts again. I’d suggest that they, or the owners of any club, are entitled to take out profits from a club. Just as the owner of any other business can.
So, in theory, they could buy no one, keep the same players we have now, and take the rest of the money. I’m not aware of any law that would prevent them from doing so. It’s not illegal to take profits from a company you own. (Unless by doing so you drive it into bankruptcy leaving creditors).

But I don’t really see the point of dreaming up doomsday scenarios and then convincing oneself that it’s going to happen. It’s pointless, we’ll all be dead in five years anyway when the Russians cut off our fuel and blow up the internet.

Agree, no doubt we’ll be very very careful when it comes to spending.
History shows that the tight arse clubs with little ambition tend to spend around 20 million when they go up.
We can afford to spend more but Wilder doesn’t know who’s good enough, he doesn’t know hardly anything about the PL.
So he’ll be learning on the job, then come January transfer window time he’ll know exactly where our weaknesses are and what’s needed to stay up. I think we lack pace everywhere and our creative flair players (Duffy and McGokdrick) are getting older so might not be as good next season. It’s difficult to predict how we’ll do but with Wilder anything is possible.

It’s possible he might only spend 10 million in the Summer but have a kitty of over 10 million to spend in the January transfer window. You can bet we’ll use the loan route too but this time we’ll be able to afford massive wages.

A word of caution mate. I accept that we've entered a new ballpark. We're far, far wealthier than clubs outside the Prem, but it also means that we're on a level playing field where Prem clubs are concerned. Worth considering is exactly how this new found wealth is paid. Now I'm no financial whizz kid, but the parachute payments we hear so much about are paid in staggered amounts over 2/3 seasons (happy to be corrected on this) should we be relegated. So the top end figure - I've heard £190mil - isn't given in one fell swoop. Most of which explains why Wilder isn't alone in attempting to cherry pick from the Championship's better players.

So although promotion opens up many new opportunities, it still demands that we use healthy caution and wisdom if we're not about to act like the crazy gang.

It will be lovely to see players signed who last season we couldn't afford, and should we retain our Premiership place, no doubt that spending curve will continue at whatever pace Wilder considers appropriate. But the old adage, horses for courses, still holds true. Next season will be tough, and amongst the various possibilities is one many choose to ignore, relegation. It hasn't crossed my mind until I began writing this, but it cannot be dismissed just because it doesn't fit within our brilliant success. We talk a lot about teams like Burnley and their survival methodology. I think I'm right is describing them as streetwise, realistic, grounded, and ambitious.
Probably not a bad model to try and emulate. Being Pepsi to Coke, Lee to Levi, isn't exactly a bad place to be, but it will require hard calculation to ensure that we manage to compete at the top end of professional football. We've one foot in the door, What Wilder has achieved is nothing short of astounding, but from here on in it's going to be an interesting, and at times, a possibly bumpy ride. Hang on tight boys and girls, and as we pass, don't forget to wave to our blue and white neighbours in the Championship.....I mean, we wouldn't want to appear ungracious, would we?

Agree, I think even if Wilder was given a massive kitty, he’d spend it wisely and insist he gets value for money.
He seems old fashioned (in a good way) regards money and he wont tolerate fancy dans and mercenaries.

If you only stay up for one season you only get 2 years of parachute payments. You get 3 years if you stay up for two or more years.

And you are forgetting the reality of their owners and their being prepared to fund their club. Yes they can “only” lose £40m over three seasons...but with all the financial Tom foolery these clubs do to get around the rules there I should easily 4-5 clubs who could compete with us on individual players. So by that reckoning we could lose out on 4 of the top champ players very easily.
What you also forget is we are currently losing £10m a season as we are...,and that’s with huge profits on player sales recently. If we more than double or wage budget, spend £40m on fees that sounds possible for one year. But the fact I see if we go straight back down we either keep the players and hope we come straight back up, or we sell them all, clear the decks and start fresh which makes the job of getting back even harder.

This promotion needs to set the the club up for the future. We be careful, build slowly and carefully and we have a chance of becoming a Crystal Palace. (How depressing)

I think we will spend 20m - 25m

On who though well who can say.
as has been said Cris is a forward thinking manager am sure he's already got targets and would have been discussed with bettis who liased with Kev and the prince on the eventually of promotion I think a lot of people might be surprised

The gap is HUGE.......I read a report the other day that AFC Bournemouth are one of the richest clubs in Europe.

I’ve published this elsewhere, but very roughly.

TV Deal (UK) £35m
TV Deal (overseas) £40m
Central Sponsorship (e.g. Barclays) £5m
Facility Payments (our own matches on tv) £12m minimum
Merit payments (where you finish in league) £2m for bottom. A further £2m for every position higher than that.

An absolute minimum of £95m. We’ve won the lottery jackpot. Of course lesser clubs with whom we seek to do business know that.

The point is it’s a completely different ball game and rather daft to speculate by reference to a past that has never included anything even close to this windfall. The last visit to the Prem, Warnock’s autograph tour, was a pittance by comparison.

In the real world when a PL club bids for a player, these days the bidding starts at 10 million.
Not sure whether you’re on the wind up or just being ultra pessimistic.
You’re basically saying we won’t be making any signings able to immediately step into the first team
And that we will just rely on loans.

If that’s the case, then Wilder wouldn’t be here.
Be prepared for a nice surprise, we are planning to compete, not just accept relegation with loads of cash in the bank.

Not sure if you are aware but our finances are now in a totally different league, forget the penny pinching pass.
We can financially blow any Championship club out of the water, they can’t get anywhere near competing with us.
How much did we spend when last in the premier league that blew everyone out of the water? We tried endlessly to get Nugent, failed and signed luton shelton.

On a guess how much you reckon CW will get/spend? Obviously cant see him going daft and giving alot of players now a chance.
me neither. i reckon he'll get a couple in but give the lads already here a shot. the players knew they would get a shot which is why they gave everything
the amounts are irrelevant. Wilder likes a particular player type, so that counts out overpriced French second division (might be the next Mahrez? ) daftness (see Fulham). Wilder is a genius at pulling rabbits out of the hat, in that respect he reminds me of Clough senior.. if he makes a mistake then he rectifies it very quickly

Direct quote from Wilder regards his transfer kitty next season.

‘Norwich talked about numbers yesterday and we will be in and around that”

The transfer budget Norwich have already mentioned is 20 million, so Wilder obviously expects ours to be something similar,
it looks like he’s already prepared a shopping list of targets based on a spend of 20mil.
Looks like under the PL rules we also need to spend sums on the stadium and training ground.

Although later in the interview he confirms that no budget has been set or agreed by the owners yet.

£20m by our standards is pretty high!

It’s about setting the club up when all around face an uncertain future, making the most of this chance to put the club beyond doubt as a sustainable club long term.
Yes we might all want us to spunk £15-20m on a top striker or three, but realistically that just isn’t going to happen. It’s all about balance and doing things the right way.

At the moment, I would suggest the biggest playing asset we have is probably Norwood or Fleck. Both tied to decent contracts and at the top of their game, internationals (just about), and now seasoned pro’s with high performance level data in the championship to back it up. I would say they would cost a club after their signature close to the £10m pound mark.
The rest are nowhere near that value, with JOC and Egan being the closest.
So, you can’t just drop 3 £20m players in there, with their inflated egos or whatever and not expect some wedges to be driven between the players.

It’s slow and gradual...it has to be that way. If we survive, the likes of JOC, Egan, Fleck and Norwood can then finally claim to be the top players they want to be, and will be worth the superstar wages and fees. Whoever we sign...in the £3-6m bracket will also see their value go up....so my point is that this time next year, survival dependant would be the time to find a couple of big money players, spend a little more and push on again.

Yes it is for us quite high but unless we buy players from abroad, we won't sign quality. British players these days don't come cheap

20 mil is a lot for us, but in today's game in the premier league it's peanuts.
When you think Stoke spent 40 mil to finish mid table in the championship.

The Premier League was worth £30 million to us the last time we were there. and we spent £11 million on transfer fees and weren't good enough, then we spent even more with Bryan the drunk after we got relegated
It's now worth £150 million plus. Do the maths

Wilder said he’s given the club a shopping list of players with a spend similar to what Norwich have said they are spending next season. So he expects to be given 20 mil for transfers (would imagine this excludes wages and loans) but he also said the board haven’t agreed or given him a figure yet and he’s hoping the boardroom dispute is sorted sooner rather than later.

I bet we don't spent 55m on xfer fees.

And 9 out of 10 ‘cheap’ foreign imports aren’t good enough. That’s why clubs like Huddersfield and Brighton are at the bottom of the league. That’s why Villa, Sunderland, Stoke, West Brom, Swansea got relegated.

For every Kante there’s ten Markus Suttners.

Unless you have an excellent continental scouting network, signing foreign players because they’re cheap is a false economy.

Get real. We’ll be spending more than 30mil. 100%. We have to.

Everything's a gamble unless your signing experienced premier league players.
Buying the best championship players is a gamble, we blow a big chunk of money on Maupay at Brentford and he might not be able to hit a barn door in the prem. Look what happened with Bobby Reid at Cardiff.

Won't happen, 10 mil in summer maybe another 10 in January depending on how we are doing.
