As a number of users appear to enjoy creating multiple threads on the very same subject, I've created a deadline day thread which should be used for all discussion regarding transfer deadline day - 01/02/2016.

Threads created elsewhere in general chat, other than those confirming any incoming/outgoing will be merged into this thread to allow for easier reading of the forum.

For those who don't know the timings...

English clubs have until 11pm GMT on February 1 to finish off any last-minute business (unless of course you are a "big club", then you can usually submit everything late and get away with it ;)), as January 31 falls on a Sunday, which is classed as a non-working day.

In Spain, the transfer window shuts on the final day of January, meaning any deals between English and Spanish clubs must be completed before the English deadline day.

The French and Italian transfer windows shut on the same day as ours, but in Germany clubs have an extra day to wrap up their January business as they have until 5pm on February 2.

Ha I love the info re foreign transfer windows! We'll not be looking in Scotland, let alone Spain! Here's what I'm predicting. No ins and two outs.

Do I have to trot out all my smug shitty comments again, or will they be merged?

Well as everyone else is making up worst case scenarios and pretending they've already happened here goes:

Could be an eventful few days if we don't sign anyone and then get beaten by a Morsy inspired Wigan:

Who do we blame?
  • the Board and their "lack of ambition"
  • the fax machine - "That joke isn't funny any more"
  • the manager
  • the footballing Gods
  • no-one because it's all about the long term, summer and next season

Connor Sammon. Because he's an awful footballer.

I expected it would be quiet for us, they got the excuse in nice and early. That excuse being we have to many players already at the club.
Frustrating as we do need to bring in fresh faces, a central pairing for Edgar is one key area.
Personally I would like to also see a new Winger and Central midfielder, as Hammond/ Basham/ Woolford and co just aren't cutting it, I'll be blunt they are losing most midfield battles in this league and they need replacing.

'All 3 parties have to agree the deal' and 'We tried but couldn't quite get it over the line' have been two recent transfer window favourites.

I personally have no problem with us not signing anyone in the next 24 hours as I think the current squad has far bigger problems than we can fix with one or two in tomorrow, and we would probably better to try and address the whole thing in the summer.

What is frustrating, is that 5 and a half years in League One we still don't have a team anywhere near challenging the top 2, and potentially at this rate even the playoffs.

Let's have a game of ......... Things you wouldn't expect the Sheffield United manager say on Tuesday morning.....

"I was please we managed to sign all five of out championship targets before the window closed"

"It's credit to the board hanging onto the money from the sales of the 2K's, McDonald, Maguire and Murphy so we could buy 2 CB', an attacking midfielder, a winger and a strike partner for Billy"

"We're in a strong position to challenge the top two for promotion"

Go on, have a go it's feels good typing good stuff rather than negative predictions.

"I admit I made a very costly mistake in not signing the two centre halves everyone in the world could have told me we needed in the summer. I know that my poor signings to date has meant we're now scrambling around at the end of January in an attempt to get in the attributes I failed to get in during the last transfer window. I apologise for my actions as this has had a direct impact on the fact that promotion is now very much an unlikely event."

Are you going to include the bit where he regrets signing the teams top scorer?

Nah course not, only a total virgin fuckwit would think such a thing......

So you're a total virgin fuckwit?

It might be worth engaging how ever much of a little brain you have before posting replies.

I think even if we don't recruit we'll still make the play-offs, it's just that it'll be more of an unedifying and uninspiring slog. Our record against the top teams so far is not that bad (with the obvious exception of Gillingham).

We've got as good a chance as we've ever had - which is not saying much I know.

So now all my merge messages will be repeated in one thread making me look an arse.

Can do that myself without Foxys help.

It's the omitted part of the other stuff, that you've stated.....ooh a couple of times.

Anyway, enough of you and your selective memory.

Back to the (so far) enjoyable thread.

What if I were to create a thread about fax machines and which one we should use to process our transfer dealings? Would that also be merged into this thread?
