Don't want to start reheating old soup but it's staggering that Bill had played for Adkins for many years and he never spotted his potential as a skipper.

The fact he's addressed it simply as "Lads" is the best thing about this entire season

But we had Captain Calamity then!

That was the day I knew he was Madkins!

The Magic is Back

Is it just me, or might McNulty have shown some discretion and kept a private message private? I see no reason why such things should be made public and I've decided to unread the message :-)

To be fair to Adkins, no seriously, bear with me, bear with me...

There's spotting someone's captain potential over the years at other clubs and then there's being captain of your boyhood club. Billy would run through a brick wall for this club, much more so than he would have done for any other, even being as committed a pro as he is. Granted, Adkins fluffed up by not giving the captaincy to him for that season, but what a season Billy just had. Living the dream for all of us.

By the way, Who's the lad in the cap on the left, Scougs, Done (bumming Scougs), Lavery (in shades?), Bearded Cap bloke... Freeman?

This forum was awash with people who called it a bad appointment.

Amazing to think Jay "Bombscare" Mac was captain year before ahead of Sharp!!!

He probably gave Billy a book on "how to be a captain"
I've just remembered my old boss did similar. Gave me one of those books on how to get ahead and be an effective leader and all that shit. He was very much like Adkins now I think about it. Proper bullshit merchant.

"William, You're Honest, Hard Working but not Captain material. Have a look at these, written by N.Adkins..."
