Total embarrassment...

The way Wednesday played last night is as a direct consequence of what happened against Norwich a week ago.

My brother-in-law, and other Blades in attendance at that match last Saturday, all called it correctly when they feared that it would force Jos to change tactics to save his job, and thus reduce United's chances of winning the derby. "I knew this would effing happen!", he bellowed.

It wasn't just about the number of defensive players the Owls had on the pitch either, it was also about the way they defended. It was back to basics, with the emphasis on the word basic. Gone was the tipping, tapping, dallying and dribbling in and around their own penalty area so much in evidence against Norwich. It was kick it, head it, hoof it and leather it. Get rid of it, lad.
Said exactly the same as we left Forest last week. Last night was about saving his job and that’s it

Ive seen you post a couple of times on here and you talk a lot of sense, let’s hope it stays that way and that other blades play nice or that you just ignore them.

With that in mind this is a genuine question, do you think weds could go down this season? Because that team that played here yesterday was the worst team I’ve seen play here in the last three seasons, I know you came for a point and the manager wanted to keep his job but personally I wonder weather many of your fans would have been happier to lose and get him out..

This guy is nailed on to take you down with his approach to football either this season or the next.

The 0-0 score line has only one positive for us as, and that is that jos keeps his job.

(Your keeper did well btw)

It's difficult to say at this stage.

Looking at the players to come back you'd say no, but will they stay back, bearing in mind the club's injury history?

Because Carlos walked, rather than being sacked, what's not clear is how long Chansiri would have persisted with him had Swansea not come to the rescue. Chansiri is stubborn, and that is probably the most dangerous threat to the club's status.

It's perfectly true that Wednesday's approach last night was that of a team which wasn't really good enough to compete at the given level, however I think the defensive overkill by Jos was simply to ensure that he would still be in a job this morning. Had the game not been against United, then I don't think he'd have gone to those lengths.

But he was very lucky with that pen.

We play risk and reward.
Wednesday play little risk and little reward
1 point from last 15 available and little chance on improving with their lack of ambition. Fletcher had 2 touches in our box and 16 in his own which says how they constantly had 8 or 9 players in their 18 yard box. We failed to capitalise on a dreadful night of constant rain. But most teams will capitalise on breaching as they don't drop as deep as much as they did last night . Another 28 0-0 draws won't get them safe

The bloke next to me was getting worried at times ............. he pointed out several times that only Hendo was in our half. A bit of a non contest last night they came to survive nothing more, nine players sat across the penalty box hoof it in the general direction of Fletcher and hope for a mistake by us. If they keep drawing for the rest of the season they are going down, they will stay 17th this weekend but points wise could be closer to the bottom three with more hard games coming up. In a relegation spot by Christmas maybe. Rotherham tipped for the drop by many are 3pts behind them with a game in hand.

Much as I think last night must be a huge embarrassment to Wednesday I can see what they did as a pragmatic approach to playing a team that had the capacity to beat them easily if they had given us the chance by playing with more ambition. It is a mark of respect to united that they won't need to give to teams much lower down the table than us. So they probably will not always park the bus and may get results against worse teams than say Norwich.perhaps if they can stabilise they could be mid table mediocrity but we are widely regarded as promotion contenders. I'll take that.

Don't know what they drink or smoke in S6 but just been talking to Wednesday mate whi wouldn't accept anything less than Wednesday were magnificent last night and the rot has stopped and the corner has been turned. "We played you off the park, you were poor, no ambition to win at all" says i. He responded with " Bit like when you came to Hillsborough last season when we ran rings round you for 90 mins and you scored from a free kick which shouldn't have been given and 3 break away against the run of play goals, Leon Clarke FFS"
I shook my head and walked away.

Another 28 nil nil draws won’t get us promoted either.

Cud have saved a lot of typing by just saying you were worst than last season.

Last season you were shit.

But in the great scheme of things they scored as many as we did and we missed a penalty, Perhaps we should be looking at why with total dominated (up to penalty area) their shit keeper didn't make anything other than regulation saves.
I don’t think people are oblivious to this. There’s plenty of debate about it on here, and the management are aware of it.

They didn't have the time to play tippy tappy. Pressured from the off. It was hoof from the start. Kicking for touch to relieve the pressure.

Even without bias, worst side I've seen at BL since we were promoted.

Was last season's game a direct consequence of last week's Norwich game as well ? Because you did the exact same thing then

You're terrified of us

Agree but it isn't being addressed. Fleck's early shot should have set the tone but we went the other way to the extent we got ball into dangerous positions then passed it back out to the wings, where then poor crosses or none at all were delivered. The team doesn't need any new signings IMO they just need to stop trying to score the "perfect" goal.

Thing is they really believe that which is the frightening thing.
It's just like the cloud cuckoo land thoughts of homer Simpson. They live in a reality of their own . Where the bleeding obvious doesn't exist

I'm embarrassed, been watching football since about '65 and I know there is a right and left back and two centre backs (or centre halves) and a sweeper in the defence but I've no idea what the other three positions are, anyone help me out, never seen them before.

Easily the poorest team to visit BDTBL this season. I’d heard they were shite, but my word they are fucking rubbish.

They are in trouble.

Honestly? As things are going, they won't go down, we won't go up, and we'll start again next season in the same league separated by alphabetical order, together in gnawing, clawing mediocrity, with the only points of boast being that, whilst they can only command 25% possession when they play out insipid draws, we can get to 75%. They will also claim they've not got their full side out, yet again. Our 30+ players will be a year older, a year closer to retirement, the quality keeper will have returned to his parent club, we'll have lost at least one of norwood/fleck/joc, the market value of what we need to bring in will be 25% higher, the owners will be still at loggerheads & CW more frustrated. But lets not dwell on the current and the downbeat, as tempting as trumpeting our 2nd 0-0 against them is, let's collectively fantasize about next season's game at BDTBL (hopefully under the lights & on TV), where we kick off and sit on the ball for 90 minutes without a challenge been made or an attack being attempted, allowing our fans the opportunity to give each other reach-arounds & teabag each other, due the fact we've hit 99.9% possession and we can all go home a sweaty, excited mess with 1 point in the bag. Whoopy. Fucking. Doooo. We will then truly be the kings of Sheffield and all we survey. Sheffield isn't red & white nor is it blue & white, it's fucking beige. Faded beige at that.
