Topper, pointed or fez

What are we classing as a magic hat, the topper from which the magicians pull various items , animals etc. The typical pointed wizards hat, or the fez ala Tommy Cooper, my leaning is for the fez , if it's not magic it could come in for the mythical Sam Morsy when he turns up.
