1. Leon Britton - we've lacked an influential central midfielder for seasons now (since Michael Brown left tbf). If we can actually use Britton and not give him neck ache, he could push us on to the upper reaches.

2. Ched Evans - utterly sh*t last season with brief flashes of excellent ability. Norwich and Man Citeh supporters swear he can score lots of goals; so here's hoping it's true.

3. Jamie Ward - injury prone but farkin brilliant on his day. Needs to calm down to cut out the injuries, but if he can get a good run in the team, he can score and set up lots of goals.

Admittedly, there are slight bits of optimism in this post, but sod it, that's what pre-season is for.

1. Simmo. We have a back-up who hasn't played a competitive game in this country. Simmo has to stay fit AND on form.

2. Morgan. When the defense was a shambles last season and the rest of the team was filled with "couldn't give a toss" loanees the skipper held firm. More of the same needed.

3. Williamson. Please get fit!!!!! Only player who can pass so get on the fucking pitch and do it.

I was tempted to put Morgan in there, but he's Mr Reliable (apart from the odd elbow swing).

Would love Willo to be fit, but think he's the new John Ebbrell :(

Monty i think will have a storming season. Hopefully Leon Britton will prove to be more hard-working and able than Harper or Howard ever was so Monty is not forced to cover twice the ground to make up for a lazy midfield partner.

1. Cresswell - Our best player by far in the second half of last season, lets hope this continues, his goals will be vital.

2. Yeates - Needs to perform and win a place in the side and keep it once he's there, we lack decent presence on the wings and with cresswell and bogdanovic in the box good wing play will be vital.

3. Britton - i hope this guy isnt just a square ball merchant, if he has that creative drive we have been missing then he could be the difference between us and alot the mediocre shite in this league.

i personally think its hard to call just 3, there are a few players who frankly need to pull their socks up, quinn, ched, and taylor need to be better than they were last season, especially ched considering weve already shelled out alot of cash on him. i would think as it stands playoffs is our best bet, but i dont think middlesborough are going to be as great as everyone is thinking, filling a squad with scottish league players is a bit of a risk, so maybe we could scrape it.

1. Morgan - If he's not playing, the defence falls apart, simple really.

2. Cresswell - Biggest goal scoring threat last season.

3. Sorensen - Having a proper, settled goalkeeper can have a huge bearing on how we perform defensively.

Notice that there's no midfielders in there as this is an area where we're still massively lacking in ability. People are stating that Britton will change this but reading the comments from Swansea fans about the type of player he is, it sounds as though we should be playing him instead of Monty rather than with him.

Sorensen? I wish.

Quinn, Ward and Evans

People like Morgan, Simmo and Monty are what you see is what you get players.

For us to do well we need these 3 to produce alot more and stay fit. Only a change in style will get the best out of these 3 though

Oops, keep making that mistake, Simo then. Anyway I think having a solid 'keeper like SIMONSEN hopefully playing regularly behind the defense will have a massive impact.

If we have Simmo playing behind a settled defence it will be a huge improvement on last season.

1, Ched
2, Ward
3, Cresswell
If these 3 can bang in the goals then it don't really matter too much about the defence!
Hopefully we saw the real ched at the last match of the season at ipswich, what a goal, one touch - bang in! Fingers crossed but hopefully a sign of the Ched to come!

Most important player Monty being fit all season.

If this nis for real we will be having a sh!t season.

Monty only looks good when all around him are rubbish - hopefully Monty's error strewn passing game and mis timed tackles will be less visable if we play well -
My three top players this season would be:
Ched Evans - obviously more talented than he has showed to date
Leon Britton - a midfielder who can pass to his own men and move the side forward
Simonsen- a class keeper who should marshall the defence

But Monty - Give me strength
Plus I think the above three players will blossom especially if Blackwell has little or no influence on their game!

1, Ched
2, Ward
3, Cresswell

To do that they would need the service............

can we provide it???

I'm optomistic that everyone has mentioned different players:

Simmo
Morgs
Monty
Britton
Yeates
Quinn
Willo
Ward
Boggy
Cresswell
Evans

If all of them do as well as we think they can then we're pretty formidable, right?

don't panic .......when cheap as chips has given out team orders it will be 'hoof as normal'

Simonsen, Cresswell and Morgan (and not necessarily in that order).

I think if Ward ad Williamson can stay fit then they could be very important. However I have little confidence of that. Yeates has a potentially important role to play, but I am not convinced by him. I think if Evans gets a chance and an early goal then he could really take off. However Blackwell has showed little faith in him so far. I'd really like to see Evans and Cresswell up front together, but Blackie favourite Henderson will probably be in front of them and then there is Bogdanovic too. Perhaps Britton will be important but I fear that KB will get the worst out of him.

Agree with most of that especially the bit about who blackie will most likely go for. I'd like to see Boggy and evans up top with Cresswell on the left and ward on right especially at home.

Hamilton?! You must be joking. Holdsworth is the key.

I remember a game where Hamilton scored, and some of the kop started chanting his name.
Someone turned round to them and just went 'he's fucking wank, shut up'
Proper made me chuckle.

Monty, Morgan, Cresswell.

Not particularly in that order but they are virtually the back bone of the team and are the players I think we need to look to to keep the other lads going.

Not really seen much of the new signings so can't comment on them.

Hope Evans takes off and has a good season and really hope Ward can stay fit. All though if he does a few Prem teams will probably come knocking in January.

1) New signing on his way according to FB
2) as above
3) as above

Monty - if he plays we'll be one dimensional, out passed, out played and mid table at best. We need to get over ths "we can't play without him because he runs about a lot" attitude, be brave and try to play more football. Great attitude, dire player.

Ward - if he can stay fit then he should be playing every week, he offers more of a threat and gives us a better option than Henderson who as with Monty leaves us lacking in pace, guile and a Plan B

Evans - somebody must have seen something in him to warrant his fee. He either comes good quick or should be shipped out soon as.

:gallop:

Can't argue with the first two assesments, however, if Evans comes good before January then we won't see him in our team again about 2 hours after the window opens.

Who's the zone man. Is it Wilf?
