Massive speculation I know but just tried to work out the promotion and play off teams for this coming season. My top six, in no particular order are.

  • Blades
  • Wigan
  • Scunthorpe
  • Swindon
  • Millwall
  • Chesterfield

Sitting back preparing to be shot down in flames, let's see how close i was come next May.

Wigan
Blades
Barnsley
Chesterfield
Millwall
Burton

One of the promoted teams always does well, I'm going for Burton. Donny will probably challenge too. All depends on signing in the summer though.

Here's my hugely optimistic forecast....

1. Blades
2. Wigan
3. Swindon
4. Millwall
5. Doncaster
6. Bradford

If Adkins can make a a couple of decent CB signings, I don't think there's any reason why we shouldn't be up there, however I think we've said that for the last 4 seasons. I'd imagine Wigan should be up there due to still getting parachute payments but may still have a hangover from 2 relegations in 3 seasons. Actually I think it's quite difficult to predict and obviously there's still considerable time for signings and managerial changes. Can't see Chessy being up there again now that Saunders is at the helm (great player, dubious management credentials) and also losing a couple of key players in Roberts and Ryan (and possibly others?).

wigan
blades
swindon
millwall
bury
southend

in order of how i think it will finish. bury have made some decent signings and i think brown is a good manager and will have a good chance of getting a playoff spot in this league with southend.
and then obviously us blades going up :)

Scunthorpe?!!!

My top six in no particular order, although very difficult to tell at this stage:-

Blades
Wigan
Burton
Bradford
Fleetwood
Millwall

Chesterfield? Lost Roberts and Ryan as well as soon to lose Darikwa and most likely Morsy some time soon. Let's not forget the manager. They'll be closer to relegation methinks.

I reckon Shrewsbury will be the dark horse having a few young players who showed how to win promotion last season. However top 2 should be ours and Wigan's followed by Doncaster to win the playoffs.

1) Wigan
2) Blade's
3) Doncaster
4) Millwall
5) Shrewsbury
6) Scunthorpe

I'd swap Chesterfield, Scunthorpe and Swindon to end up with:

- Blades
- Wigan
- Millwall
- Peterborough
- Fleetwood
- Barnsley

Blades
Wigan
Millwall
Barnsley
Peterborough
Coventry

Dingles could be up there

If we don't make it this season we never will . Said that every season since we've been in League 1. It doesn't get any easier in this league , as teams seem to get better and more organised every season . We are now classed as a established league 1 side , so the only way out , is to buy quality and play football to suit who we play . Top 2 should not be beyond us . and Adkins / staff , are a positive factor. Also 20 goal plus forward is needed.

For Wigan, see Wolves. Relegation hangover or not they'll walk the league. Can we keep up? I doubt it, but we should be gunning for second

I know it's silly season what with there being no football and all that but I can't see why we wouldn't just concentrate our energies on our own club and fuck the rest. Shrewsbury? Chesterfield? Scunthorpe? Who knows and quite frankly who cares. We get it right ourselves and win our games the rest can do what they want.

I'm going to have Chesterfield as relegation candidates this season.

Along with Swindon. Reckon a top 12 finish for them would be unbelievable given that all their players have gone/going.

Barnsley and Doncaster shouldn't be written off as Play Off candidates either.
