How great to be top at Christmas? Let's hope that it lasts well beyond Easter.

2 goal Tony gets a great win for us. Perhaps we should sell him in January, while his stock is high, to part fund our new targets.

The worst top of the table side ever in the history of professional football.

Are we all ready for two more bore fests at home this coming week? Enjoy.

maybe people will stop moaning about danny now? no midfield, a board that couldnt find a fat bird in a doncaster nightclub, and top of the league. hard to know what more he can do. i wish brentford and bournemouth would bugger off though.

Just to put a dampener on things (well, apart from Mic, who will love this bit of info), I believe the last time we were top at Christmas was in 1979. We lost to some team or other on Boxing Day and ended up finishing 12th :-(

It's alright though because we're not 'properly' top as Brentford would leap us if they won their game in hand.

You beat whats put in front of you. To be where we are now with what we have on the pitch is good. Its not any more than that. To be there at the end of the season is all that counts. After last season I fail to believe that there isn't a god and he really doesn't like us.

Up The Blades and merry Christmas.

Nice !!! now if we could just open up a bit of a gap from the rest going into January :):)

Is Sheffield suffering from a prozac shortage? I know some comments are tongue in cheek, but for those that aren't: please indulge yersens elsewhere.

To my great shame I went briefly into the Donny Walkabout today. As I was walking in there was a gaggle of Evans size ladies coming out, the last of which screamed "Karen! I am NOT a f*cking lesbian!" One of many highs in a top (Blades result assisted) day out.

Darren,

Is 1969 the only calender year that we lost only one home game? If we dont lose on Boxing Day or next Saturday then we will match the record (our only loss this year was against Oldham in March)

id imagine plenty of crap teams have been top after 1 game. we, however, are crap and top of the league halfway through the season. pretty amazing really, the manager and players should proud of themselves. its easy being top when you have the likes of eddie van solskjaer and robin gunner nistelrooy, try being top with the dross weve got. imagine what we could do if we sign a midfielder capable of getting out of our own half!

Time to start giving Wilson and the lads a bit more credit do we think ??

Massive big up for the gaffer from DB for a sterling effort so far this season.

Keep it up Danny Boy :)

We only lost one home game in 1983 as well, against Lincoln towards the end of the 1982-3 season.

And, this had slipped me by, but we're also halfway through the season.

A couple of signings in January, and we could actually do this.

Although Mic is in full on trolling mode, no doubt sat in his own stools and furiously rubbing away in anticipation of a couple of bites; he's actually bang on that this is a terrible terrible league this season. Hopefully McCabe sees this and realises that there's a chance of a promotion to a league with more money and more ticket sales.

Happy as larry to be top of the league. Vital we get the game plan correct against what should be a gimme 6 points at home against the bottom 2 teams in the division. Hartlepool are on 9 points - the youth team should muller em' never mind the first team.

Need to be careful not to take Scunny too lightly though as they actually have a fair away record.
