Good post with fair points and I do agree but can’t just be me that walks away even more frustrated when we play brilliant & don’t get what we deserve.
It’s almost like I’m less bitter if we are rubbish and deserve to lose because you just hold your hands up and say “fair play” but when you batter a team for 80 minutes (Villa & a few others) and don’t get maximum points it feels like a right royal boot to the groin.
Agree..it is frustrating knowing we deserved to win...like away to Villa.
However consistent good performances are an indicator of future good results.
Regular poor performance are a future indicator of poor results.
A result is like winning the battle or losing the battle, it’s short termism.
Whereas the performance is the bigger picture and shows whether you win or lose the war in the long term.
Beans talks about his xg stats in his podcast about how teams are over performing and under performing based on their in game stats, His predictions about United being the real deal and how when Wednesday were just below the playoffs (at one stage) were in a totally false position are proving correct, at the time Wednesday goals seem to be all speculative long rangers which can’t be maintained.
Also after the terrible Villa result Beans talked about how the data in that game gave us massive grounds for optimism. He was forecasting that result was a blip/ a fluke result and we are still easily one of the best teams in this league.
The next 2 games against Boro and Reading proved that Beans positive feedback was accurate.
My view regards the Villa result was if that result was with 3 games to go then it can negatively effect our finish but there’s plenty of matches left, so we can actually use that game as a character builder to make us better and stronger.
