Majority of the loan signings have failed to achieve anything worthy of any merit this season - except possibly riise and Lowry.
Nosworthy has carried on from where he left off last year if not worse, if that's even possible. Marcus bent looks the biggest waste of space I've seen on a football pitch. Fair enough he hasn't played often enough in the past 2 years, but he could at least show a bit of passion and effort by actually jumping up for a header or two.
To say loan players don't care about the club they're on loan at is unfair, but i don't think they'd be as upset as the permanent players at the club if united were to be relegated. At the end of the day they aren't going to be in league 1 next year, although it's debateble whether the likes of Marcus bent & nyron nosworthy should be doing, they'd be back at their parent club, and would get over united.
That's been uniteds problem for the last two seasons, too many loan players!
Regardless of whether united stay up or go down, they should stick with Micky Adams and give him money so hes able to buy a permanent squad of his own and get united back to where they should be - the premiership.

Couldn't agree more. The main reason we lost the playoff final aswell, no sense of loyalty to the shirt. Good post.

Blade17, i'm normally an advocate of using the loan market to bring in youngsters that are a higher calbre of our own in order to achieve a boost towards promotion. Kyle bartley would be a good example of the type of loan i'd bring in. Young and hungry to get on in the game.

What i'm not in favour of is bringing in useless overpaid shitbergs who can't get a game at their parent clubs. And relying on them to fill out the matchday squad.

But bartleys gone and the only loan players who look remotely decent are lowly riise and possibly vokes. The rest are either useless, apart from mattock who got injured so can't really judge him. And ye loan players are good when chasing promotion to just bolster a team, but were relying on them and tbqh they wouldn't be too bothered if united were relegated.

Erm, i'm agreeing with you :)

But United are skint, so where does the money come from?

Too true. Micky will have to sell high and buy low and the chances of that coming off successfully are very slight indeed. Next season we'll be stuck with those we haven't been able to offload and the development squad/reserves/academy/whatever. It could be a very long wait indeed.

Hopefully Micky won't have to do anything

Reid was quite a successful loan and Parrino hasn't been too bad either. Oh and don't forget Bartley. Actually thinking about it we've had quite a few good loan players.

one is playing in the premier league (brought in by speed), one in the champions league (brought in by blackwell), the middle one a shiny coin to further mccabes interests in argentina (and unpopular with all managers at the club this season)

if youre not simon mccabe or a representative of the mccabes ill stand hanging.

There not here now though are they? And what about all the others we've had in the past two years? Craig beattie, Andrew Davies, ikeme, seip & Bunn.

Wish we still had Bunn, he's probably 10x better than flappy has been this season. ;)

lets face it our team is not good enough with or with out loan players seen better football at my lads under 12s lose today and its time for the young players to start

We should give them a chance, but not till were certain we're down.

My point was that not all loan players are crap, the same as not all permanent signings are good. There are some advantages to having a crap player on loan over signing them permanently. Often you don't find out they're crap until they play for you or you thought you could turn them into a good player, but then find out they're just too crap (you don't hear analysis like that on Football Focus).

Ultimately though I agree that signing a good player on a permanent contract is far better than on loan.
