When we are running with the ball almost all the time the opposition hack us down we stay on our feet and lose the ball but opposition players go down poleaxed maybe we are being too honest
Said that last night with the McAtee incident and I've said it previously. Absolutely nothing to be gained in sport by being the good guys in this day and age.

Hecki has been talking about this for some time!
If you can't beat em join em McAtee trying to stay on his feet cost us the 3rd goal.Nothings going to change so its obviouse what we should do.

You’re right we’re too nice at times, we’re too lightweight in the middle got to be a lot stronger in there.

Mcatee could’ve gone down in the box first 10mins too. We’ve never been THAT team though. Kinda proud of that since Gerrard cunt.

It’s time we started playing them at their own game…level up the playing field

Too honest? More like too predictable.

How many times did we try to run at their players and get tackled / shoved off the ball?

It wasn’t working the first, second or third time, maybe don’t try that every time for the rest of the game.

Except that opposing fans hate Billy Sharp for how easily he goes down, which he does. He goes down for everything and tries to claim everything. He's the only one who plays the ugly side of the game but referees don't always give him the decision.

Most opposition players are going down we need to get street wiser

This is different, Billy gets pushed and pulled constantly by defenders so any contact and he’s down, mostly with his back to goal. I’m talking about the runners into the box, any touch or misplaced challenge and our players tend to continue on their feet when, like last night, if they’d gone down after the touch they’d have probs got a penalty. I hate that way of playing football but if other teams are benefiting then let’s match it. Too much to lose.

We definitely need to be too, I don’t care if it’s not morally right for the game as Hecky said.

I think for here on in we will be doing that Hecky is spot on...it pisses us off to see every single team we play going down..they hack at us we stay on feet....Not anymore

It is a real dichotomy for me, I love how honest we are & in trying to stay on our feet, but I am also sick to the back teeth watching every other team do it multiple times a game & always benefit from it.
I hate saying it, but it is time to level the playing field, not to cheat, but to gain the advantage every team get when fouled.

Players running on the ball can be a great watch. It gets the crowd excited as players demonstrate determination, pace and skill and the team has a chance of creating a big chance.

But teams have found a work around to stop these runs. An opponent brings the runner down on purpose. Cynically and through no attempt to actually win the ball, a shirt is pulled, an arm is grabbed, the player is brought down and the danger is averted.

Bizarrely football rewards this. Football authorities let problems go on for years before doing anything about it.

Routinely a yellow card is given. It's a pathetic excuse of a punishment. The player is then applauded and thanked, being hailed as professional as he "takes one for the team".

In this respect we are not better than other teams. Our players do it too.

The solution is easy. An automatic one match ban for players doing the obvious, most cynical ones.

In today's football, Maradona's Goal of the Century would have been stopped by Peter Reid about here.

The PL has been doing this for years it has become accepted behaviour. Fall stay down don't bounce back up, stay down get a drink an earn a foul.
Look to our PL foray Wilder complaining endlessly we were too honest staying on our feet while all around are going to ground. Well tough we paid for it we didn't adapt to their rules, you have to beat them at their own game we still haven't learned this tactic.
We just moan about it and have done for years, while others pass us by, have a chuckle and shake their heads.

I’d rather we play the way we do than be like the opposition. It’s the officials job to get the decisions right rather than for us to start these tricks

Without a doubt we are too honest and I do agree with Hecky on this that we are being punished twice, other teams go to ground for a pull back and our player gets booked. Our players stay on their feet we lose the ball and their player gets away with one. I really do get why he was so angry when Boro got the 3rd if McAtee goes down their player gets a booking, yeah try to stay on your feet if you have a chance to be in on goal but by the centre circle fuck me Macca, go down get their player booked that's what Pep will say when you go back to Citeh. Maybe it is not how we want our team to play but i'll tell you what Norwich and Bournemouth fans didn't give a fuck what any Sheff Utd fans thought of them when they went up to the Premier league.

Or...maybe the advantage rule should last longer than 1.5 seconds. Rugby has it right. We played on and 5 seconds later we lost the ball, no advantage occured. Go back to the spot of the foul, issue a card and move on. Thus the fouling team gets punished. This may reduce the cynical fouls. Will the powers change the law....will they fick

Agree and Rugby style stopping the clock would be good too.

I do think situations like last night are odd. The guy was fouling McAtee, McAtee shrugged him off, guy stopped following him so McAtee had time on the ball, ref waves play on. McAtee then makes the wrong pass and Jebbo makes a terrible attempt at holding it up. You could argue we had the advantage and then we fucked it up. I think most refs would have brought it back though.

We need to play the black hearts like every other teams do. the refs/linesperson/4th official do nowt about it.
You get nowhere being sporting. win at all costs that's the attitude we need to show.

Billy goes down and hardly gets the free kicks.

So when we are honest we get fucked over and we are not honest we get fucked over.

Maybe there is a technique to it but Wilder didn't like the diving bullshit. So I can see why this group prefer not to fall to the ground like a Daniel Farke team.

some are encouraged to go to ground by their managers, Mourinho did at Chelsea. he even told them to go down in pairs to stop refs asking the so called injured player being sent to the side of the pitch for treatment, there is something in the laws of football about the number of players that must be on the pitch.

Also listen to Hecky's post match interview near the end explains why his players try and stay on their feet.

remember gerrard throwing himself to the floor in the box one season. the oppo pulled his leg away instead of tackling him, absolutely made a fool of him. even then sky were creaming over him in his defense saying how he was anticipating the tackle etc. i dont like him at all horrible person.
