I think Sharp will probably be disappointed in not taking the chance he had – read the defensive header excellently, and just had an uncharacteristicly bad first touch when in a perfect position.
I wish he'd taken a chance on hitting it first time. Not many other chances for us in those highlights.

Oh well, on to the next one.

Tell you what....That Nasser El Khayati looks a class player. He is pacey, tricky and really direct. Got a great player on their hands.

I thought it was an incredibly frustrating performance. Burton were there to be beaten and if we'd just taken a bit more care and had a bit more quality, I think we would've won easily.

Grumbles...

Our crossing - both in open play and from set pieces was dreadful. I did start wondering if the low corner (i.e. ankle height) to the near post was a deliberate tactic. We got in loads of good positions and the delivery, time after time, was poor.

Louis Reed - he had an absolute nightmare in terms of his passing. Credit to him though for his workrate and for never hiding, it would've been easy to think "I'm having one here, I'll not show for a pass for 5 minutes" but he never did. Needs to improve to stay in and around the team though.

Our passing in general - it wasn't just Reed. How many times in the first half did a 'pass' just go out of play for a goalkick? There was a spell in the 2nd half when we must've misplaced 5 or 6 simple passes (in our own half) in succession. Take out sideways passes between Collins and Edgar and our pass completion percentage will have been shockingly low, partly because of how direct we were at times but mainly because we were so sloppy.

Billy Sharp's finishing - first I should say that I thought it was his best all round game for us. It might seem harsh to knock him for missing one chance but it's another good one that he's missed. He gets paid the big money to be the difference by taking the chances that come his way more often than not and that's not happening yet - I think he'll look back on September and think he should've had at least 3 more goals than he's got. Whilst we're not quite firing, we need him to be winning tight games for us.

I'm never usually too disappointed with a point away from home and it's great to get a clean sheet but I came away from the ground last night thinking we'd missed a really good opportunity. A better side than Burton (and regardless of what the current table says, they do exist at this level) would've punished us.

Just touching on the passing i thought exactly the same at Bradford in the first half, never looked in control of the ball and were always giving the ball away. I also think we have the ball taken off us far to easily. I do think that is just the level of footballers we have at the club and it shows that we need to bring more in if we are to gain automatic promotion.

Might have been a no score, bore draw but never the less here are tonights highlights for you as well as a link to Adkins post match interview with RS.

Adkins post match interview - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p033xwd8

Again a good interview by Adkins shows his disappointment at not winning the game away at top of the league, turn the clock back 12 months Clough would have been over the moon with a point. Also sounds like he has dealt with Che in the correct way.

I'm afraid that, at this juncture, Mr Reed has all the presence of a Labrador puppy
Let's hope that he can add a bit of steel to his undoubted talent

I'm afraid our defence still looks shockingly vulnerable.
Disagree they looked strong last night and Howard had little to do against the top of the league. The highlights show just what it says and in the context of 90 minutes they weren't much of a threat. Our closing down last night was very good.

Thanks for that, sitwell. You've got to be there to form an accurate view of a game. What do I know? I watched it on Ceefax! :D

To me he needs more than a bit of steel .
Add some speed, control, tackling, and a shot, and we just might be getting somewhere.
I really can't ever see this guy turning into a Willie Carlin type figure, at the moment he just looks totally out of his depth.
He bring so little he is a passenger.

7 chances for Burton and 3 chances for us on Skysports highlights.
Blades stats show
10 Burton shots to 7 Blades shots
2 Burton shots on target to 3 Blades shots on target.

Seems a little a biased towards Burton showing 2/3 of Burton chances and 1/2 of Blades chances
Blades also had 3 offsides to Burtons 1. Not seen the video yet so do not know if this would have affected anything

When he wasn't reminiscing that's basically what Keith said: we generally kept them restricted to long shots, and that's reflected in the highlights.

woolfords free kick, and the penalty appeal missing. goallie saved well from woolford
