But he has turned his fortunes around under Postecoglou and is a star man for the Hoops as they chase Rangers at the top of the Premiership.

It could, however, all have been so much different for the 29-year-old had Gordon Young got his way back in 2013.

The former Sheffield United youth academy chief urged the Blades to sign the rising Aussie nine years ago and for a cut-price while he was at Central Coast Mariners.

And even all these years later it still remains a disappointment for Young.

"Sheffield United's owner, Kevin McCabe, owned shares in clubs in China, Hungary, India and Belgium," the coach told Lanarkshire Live.

"He also had shares in Central Coast Mariners. They had this group of clubs they would use to Talent ID players and filter them through the levels.

All those link-ups were just McCabe vanity projects.
The Ferencvaros one was most disappointing - surely there were some talented players in Hungary we could have looked at?
Funny thing with that is they ended up playing Champions league footy. Even playing Barca in group stages.
Was McCabe forced to sell or something I can’t remember

That all screams - "what was the point owning those clubs" 😤
We gained virtually no benefit.

The only tangible one to my knowledge is the fact we lent Ferencvaros Matt Lowton, that might've helped his development. But that's about it.

Still 29 and a free agent, would be class in our midfield 2.
He’s be the sort of stop gap alternative should we sell Berge with no proper time to replace him.

Granted it’s the SPL and he’s playing for Australia so there’s probably a few games against Bangladesh, Tajikistan and a few others but his scoring rate of around 1 in 6 is not to be sniffed at.

I've seen worse options, seems to know where the goal is. Deal to the end of the season if/when Berge goes wouldn't be something I'd be unhappy with.

The Fuckin Hoops would have all on staying in the Championship if they played down here. Hardly a ringing endorsement.

They'd absolutely demolish the Championship as their destruction of Norwich pre season showed

They fish in a much bigger pond than any Championship clubs and are masters at finding real top quality for £3 million - £6 million and then offloading it to the Prem for £20 million +

They have the stadium, global fanbase and global marketing interest that would earn them millions if they were a Premier League club, and after a season or two adjusting and improving they would be battling it out with the best in England

Well Nicola wouldn’t like that now would she?

West Bromwich Albion have signed Australia midfielder Tom Rogic following his departure from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

The 29-year-old has joined the Baggies on a one-year deal.

How many midfielders do they want?

Loaned out Mowatt and released Sawyers but signed Molumby for cash but then brought in Wallace, Swift, Yokuslu and now Rogic.

They’ll be claiming they’ve “not spent any money”. For the wages they’ll be paying I’m not that impressed with their squad to be honest and it has very little mobility all over the pitch. Average age 27.

Hovering up free transfers on big wages. In the words of Katherine Tate “the dirty bastards.”

😂
