I really wanted him to start yesterday, yet he wasn't even on the bench so I presume he's injured again? Anyone know what's up with Tom "Glass" Davies this time?
Which translates to - He's out until EasterWilder said in his pre match interview on Sky he “had a bit of a setback in training”

Yeah….shame…. But honestly his career as a professional footballer who can play week in week out is pretty much over. No way he should be getting another deal in the summerBeyond a joke with Davies and his fitness
People’s livelihoods being affected as a result of things beyond their control is wrong.I think there’s a case for players earning in excess of £10k per week, going down to half pay when injured or unavailable for selection due to suspension?
1/3 is probably being generous. He’s played 27 games in 2 1/3 seasons and I bet around half of those have been second half subs/ cameos.I think Davies is a class player and is playing a level below of what he’s capable of but he can’t be kept on in the summer. Most injury prone players are fit for 2/3 of the season, he’s fit for 1/3 of it

So to clarify, you’re not prepared to reduce his wages when unavailable for work, like SSP, but you’re happy to lay him off for the exact same reason?I think Davies is a class player and is playing a level below of what he’s capable of but he can’t be kept on in the summer. YupWhen you consider that he signed for United on a free transfer, when we were back in the PL and scratching around for proven players, then that tells me that he will be one of the clubs highest earners. The amount of money he will have 'earned' whilst he has been here will be hefty to say the least. When you consider how many times hes been unavailable through injury (admittedly he doesnt want to be injured) then it makes him being on the pay roll an absolutely horrific deal for the club. Thing is, most with half a brain could aee this coming a mile away when we were first linked with him. What a waste of money. Along with plenty of other players we have squandered daft money on. If we offer this lad anything but a deal heavily weighted on playing time and performance, or letting him go, then the club officials / management want firing. The lad is made of china.
If you are on 20/30k per year, that's fair enoughPeople’s livelihoods being affected as a result of things beyond their control is wrong.
For normal people, yes. But football and footballers aren't normal people. One of the few industries where you can become a millionaire after failing at your job.People’s livelihoods being affected as a result of things beyond their control is wrong.

Pay as you play does seem the best option in Tom's case.People were only offering him “pay as you play” deals in 2023 as there was so much concern around his fitness..
then we rocked up and offered him a 3 year contract ..![]()
Davies has played a total of 1093 minutes, starting 9 games out of 102 league games (3 play off games included) and wasn't in any of the 7 cup games possible. Estimate an average match length of 98 minutes to include added time, it works out hes played 1093 out of 10682 estimated minutes, which is about 10% of minutes played.Anyone know how many minutes he’s actually been on the pitch for us since we signed him? As others have said he’ll be on high wages and I think must be one of our worst signings in terms of pounds per minute played. Up there with Brewster I suspect.
I’ve seen plenty of Blades who played every week but couldn’t do their job properly over the years! For normal people, yes. But football and footballers aren't normal people. One of the few industries where you can become a millionaire after failing at your job.
In Davies’ case, he knows full well his body isn't up to it and therefore cannot expect to earn a full wage in a job he cannot do properly.
He's played 1,093 minutes over 30 appearances with 9 starts. I suspect he's as pissed off with the situation as any of us.Anyone know how many minutes he’s actually been on the pitch for us since we signed him? If Johnny Normal-Job couldn't turn up for work for 9 months of the year then he'd be sacked or let go, however out of his control it wasPeople’s livelihoods being affected as a result of things beyond their control is wrong.
