Don't usually receive ITK info but told by a relative who knows someone at the club we are interested in 19 yr old Coventry attacking midfielder Tom Bayliss. Broke into there side last season. Bags of talent, versatile (can also play either wide position and a more deeper role in MF) and great with the ball. Loads of potential, he's adapted well to the physical side of the game and looks a good prospect.

Other Championship clubs also interested inc Derby who wanted him back in Jan.

He looked a good player in the play offs. Similarities with Brooks.

Now could be the time to get him. Remember when they sold James Maddison for £2m to Norwich? Maybe it could be a similar situation and outcome with Bayliss.

Can Bayliss Travel?

He can travel, I tell you on a Ducati on his day Unbeatable..... oh not Troy Bayliss???…… :(

Yep, a good one to look at. Impressive technical ability.

Would be good to add an asset like that after giving Brooks away.

Would be a great aspirational signing! Coventry haven’t done too bad producing academy players recently (Looking at Callum Wilson and James Maddison)

Would love this to happen, ticks a few CW boxes, young player from lower leagues and it appears he would fit in our system. 20 years old and 62 apps in L1 & L2

What position does he play? I don't know an awful lot about him to be honest. It'd be good to pick up some young talent like this and Connell at Bolton though, if our own batch aren't deemed 'up to it'.

Central midfield, also right midfield. He's a tidy all rounder, lovely and technical.

Signing one player like this and one more experienced player to cover Norwood and Fleck would be ideal. Fer and Bayliss/Connell would do for me.

To my mind we should try and sweep up a good few low cost players like this... even at a couple of million a pop. You only need one to turn into a Maddison or Brooks to reep the benefits and you’re also attempting to future proof the team.

Add a Bayliss and Connell etc to the squad brings the age down and could turn into an absolute bargain even if they don’t immediately contribute. We can and should spare a few million of the prem gains to do this

So is he more of a box-to-box Fleck type player? We really need more competition in this area of the park.

Primarily a ball player from what I've seen but he can get about the pitch quite well and run with it.

CW boxes are not ..repeat NOT young players ....and ne er has been.....why the f do people think that.....I should beyond me

Yes I agree with this statement. There seems to be a lot of justification of a potential signing regarding both age and resale value.
I honestly can't remember the last player we bought with the intention being to sell that player on for a profit.
CWAK's only objective will be Premiership survival. They will look to recruit to improve the starting XI and then the squad as a whole.
I think CWAK place a major emphasis on a players attitude and team spirit.... As well as their physical attributes.
I don't think resale comes into it. It's a negative way of recruiting... In my opinion of course.

It’s not necessarily a negative way of recruiting it’s just that not many clubs can afford to just think short term and just spend spend spend . At the end of the day football is a business whether we like it or not and more than likely without the money received from the Maguire/Walker sell ins and the Brooks money we would not be in the fantastic position we are now . There is nothing wrong with thinking about the future but it is more important obviously to think of the here and now . But imho I see nothing wrong with a couple of “gambles” like Bayliss provided they are not the only/main signings.
As ever UTB !!
