Big Mart is only a part-timer now as he is scared that the bigger boys might give him chinese burns and pinch his dinner money.

Seriously i don't blame people who live some distance from the lane who can't attend due to the costs of travel, and time it takes to get to the Lane for not going to the lane

My usual attendance is roughly between 30-35 games a season and that is usually all i can manage due to other commitments such as work, money and having a young family.

I usually do all the home games and a few away games and that is good enough for me, i don't buy in to all the bigger blade bollocks, you are either a Blade or you aren't although i don't like people who don't attend the games as they can't be bothered making the effort but claim they are Blades and can give you chapter and verse on where United are going wrong and are the fountain of all knowledge.

Over 24,000 against Watford is a fantastic attendance for us.

I think it is easy to forget that we are probably at one of our all time peaks for crowds we have ever known! Our crowds are amazing now, and it shows just how far we have come along really. 6-7 years ago I'd have thought 10,000 less than that would have been a half decent crowd!

It baffles me as to why people have a go at those who don't turn up every week.

It might just be because some Blades don't think watching overpaid footballers play little football is a priority, maybe they like to spend money on other things they see as more of an importance.

Also, if the team is playing well and the fans are enjoying it then obviously more blades will come down to experience that positive proud feeling you get when the Blades are doing well. No one wants to experience a match day like we had to endure under Robson.

Good attendance given the the 3rd year after relegation, the holiday season and the recession. Second best in the division, and better than a few in the Premiership (Pommpey only17.5k!).

Second year after their relegation and Readings season ticket sales have slumped already while ours have held up. Would always like to see more, but going back before the last promotion we'd have thought that was a fantastic first game attendance, just shows how we've progressed if some are disappointed.

yes and i understand there are circumstances why people cant go work, family and holidays but the fact that were not playing to standards of man utd isnt a good reason id go if we was the bottom of league 2 to watch the team i support and still get behind them, what annoys me evan more is listening to the people who ring up radio sheffield to give there verdict on the game and after the question did you go today there answer is no. people take things way to serious on here iv already said i dont believe in the bigger blade scenario i just think that theres some people who could make more effort.

i didnt get a s.t as i just couldnt justify the expence and now im not sure ill go to that many home games as the atmosphere amongst the majority of blades fans is akin to that of a spoilt kid throwin a strop in the sweet shop

think i might do a few more away trips always enjoy them no matter what the result

Theres no such thing as 'bigger Blade', and how many games you go to doesn't make any difference anyway. Its like being pregnant, or dead. You cant be less pregnant or more dead. Either you are a Blade, or you're not.

Its a pointless argument, and always has been. Some people can get to more games than other people, and thats that.

I agree. I cant stand the fact I missed Saturday due to work, and it looks like I'm missing Tuesday night too. I WAS at the Port Vae match though. Wonder how many who spout off about the attendances were?
As i said on my other post, the first home match in 5 yrs missed due to work. Not bad going for someone who works in a continuous signalbox.
I spend about 2 weeks worth of annual leave to follow United every season. Already cost me 3 days up to Xmas this season.

History suggests that you are a minority amongst most Blades now attending. I was one of only 11k-13k back in the old third division days just before relegation to the 4th division. I was also one of the 30,000+ who were regularly there in the early 70s (only a few short years before). Nowt changes much, as you'll soon realise!

The original gist of this post suggests that there is no difference between playing a game against Watford and Manchester United. Bonkers.

There are a certain number of people who will go to every home game (usually season ticket holders but not always). They will go to both games.
There are those who come and sit in the away end. Remarkably there appear to be more of these at MU than Watford. Surprised no-ones ever noticed this.
There are those that choose which games to attend (it's legal you know) and, once again, I suspect some people might prefer to see Rooney, Giggs and Scholes rather than Ellington, Smith and Demerit. Might have something to do with them being better players.
There are those who can't afford to go to every game. If I were in that position I think I'd chose MU over Watford. Just my choice of course.
There are those who have to work and perhaps can change shift with someone a couple of times a season. MU or Watford?

Overall I thought it was a pretty good attendance against a poorly supported (and as it turned out piss poor) team and I suspect anyone who can't see the difference between playing the likes of Watford and the likes of MU best not ever look to run their own business.

Considering watford brought so few, Annual work holidays peak period, Recession etc etc

A few fans still have a bed taste remaining from the play off final with a few more wins happy days and the floaters should return

agree, hardly any Watford fans really. A larger away support always makes the attendance look better
