observation , 4 games gone no striker has scored

wonder where we need to look

On the Scandinavian Blades facebook wall someone said we just needed to convert our chances into goals. I replied 'or to convert our play into chances.' Then another bloke replied 'or convert messing about on the pitch into play.'

You have strikers to score goals , midfielders and defenders do chip in even the odd goalkeeper, but to have a full section of playing staff that are dedicated to one objective , striking ie scoring goals.
If we were run on call centre guide lines , these strikers would be forever in the managers office being asked why they were not hitting their targets, literally. The old adage you dont win the lottery if you dont buy a ticket comes into play, at Bradford we swerved the lottery machine .

Yes I do believe he did. I also think winning promotion from any division is harder nowadays. Taking nothing away from the job Harry did.

It may well be harder, but the opportunity is there to be taken by all the teams in the division. Pound for pound spent/wasted we should emulate Harry's achievement. I'm not holding my breath though. It really pees me off when clubs with fewer halfpennies to rub together than us prove to be so much better.

Don't you mean Basset couldn't save us from the inevitable drop in his first season with us ?

It wasn't inevitable at all. If memory serves, we were not in the relegation zone when Bassett took over. I think Bassett himself later said that he tried to change things too quickly when he became manager and it was that upheavel that led to relegation.

Would we have got promotion out of the second division if we hadn't had a season in the third division to gel the players together and build up the momentum?

I wasn't having a dig at "Harry" - just thinking how we had some great years after we were relegated back then and I was thinking that the same might happen under DWII

I think the key difference is that Bassett could point to his achievement of taking Wimbledon from the Fourth Division to the First Division and say "Stick with me. My methods do work. I have the track record to prove it".

Weir can only point to his stint as Assistant Manager for Everton U21's and say "Stick with me. My methods work on paper and I know David Moyes".
