....well done on sneaking Reverend and the Makers in there. I'm sure he wasn't the only Wendy featured but I bet he was the only one left spluttering on his pot noodle and screaming at the telly before settling down to a quiet night of seething insomnia. Heavyweight Champions of the World indeed!

Who was it that recently called him 'Sheffield's most famous, least successful musician' on here recently? I ask cos I've already stolen that description.

He’s more of a political campaigner recently. Gets the face on when people abuse him for having a different opinion but also abuses people for having a different opinion.

I actually agree with some of the stuff he says but he’s the type of person that makes people think the left are stupid.

Also, he’s not written a decent album for about 10 years now. A band that your dad thinks are cool cause they were half decent 10 year ago.

Half of the bands on the montage were pigs. I was chuckling to myself thinking that it would have them seething at the thought.

Jon McClure is a legend in his own living room.

Most modern Sheffield music is made by Wednesday fans, alas. Monkeys, RATM, Milburn, even Rebecca Taylor from the splendid Moonlandingz.

He's like Michael Moore - I agree with a lot of his politics but he's just annoying.

I think I know exactly who it was. I'm texting him now 😁

Modern? Milburn and the Artic Monkeys?

Modern as in a going concern. The Monkeys' latest album was nominated for the Mercury Price last year, somehow.

Well I would be wouldn’t it? They’ve got nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon

Well quite. One of the offenders, perhaps Joe Carnall, once offered that as a genuine reason for it! They all emerged the ladt time we were undoubtedly on top.

Hawkwind’s last three albums all made the top 40 but I wouldn’t call them modern.

I think it was me - you're welcome!

As someone who’s not really into the Sheffield music scene, who’s this McClure people mentioned? There’s a pig fan at work who’s knocking on 60 years old and he’s always going on about him. He’s always saying McClure this, McClure that, I try my hardest to ignore the big nosed cunt.

Jon McClure of Reverend & The Makers infamy.

His brother Chris (who used to be in the much better band Violet May) is the bloke on the cover of the first Arctic Monkeys album.

I know which I'd rather listen to.

(It's Hawkwind)

But my point is the Arctic Monkeys album releases are still a big deal and they still headline festivals.

McClure is a typical pig mirroring club situation.
Big opinion of himself (abit like the club he supports) but no one else really takes him (them) seriously. Still trading on past (including them) glories.

Just to keep down there with the kids on the music scene.
