As the title says, It was a cracking day and we were all high as a kite on that little substance known as the FA Cup last night but this morning we have to lock it up and store it away until the first week in March at the very earliest and focus on the job in hand which is League One and securing safety.

Every game is a massive game from now in but next three for me hold a certain degree of significance as all three should be considered games in which we should be taking points from. We actually played the same 3 fixtures consecutively earalier in the season allbeit in a different order and it was quite a fruitful time for us bagging 6 points out of 9 however for me the Gillingham game at home we should have won as well but pee'd it up.

Gillingham and Brizzle are a good example of what putting together a good little run of results in this league can do for you, both have steered themselves away from the red zone now and look set to build on that. With the recent form of these two in mind we shouldn't under-estimate the capabilities of either of them but if the FA Cup is exposing anything, it is that we should be more than capable of beating anyone in this league and in comparison our league performances have been lacklustre and need improvement.

It't time to dust off those League cobwebs United. Picking up points in these ones and taking our games in hand could potentially shoot us right up to the sanctuary of a mid tabled position. The new players have brought something new to the table and as a whole we are a much more confident team so let's pick up the points, get to that Middle tabled security and then push on from there. Every league position we gain now can be considered an achievement.

Don't agree, we should take our cup form and standard of play and use it as the template for the rest of our season. Far from forgetting about it we should pin the scores/results etc on the dressing room wall and treat every league game as we have done the cup.

Prefer to lose the next cup match if we can win 5 out opf the next 8 matches. TActics are slowly coming together.
Stay up and next year we will be flying.

we will both stay up with ease and win the FA CUP , just so theres something to remember this season for

if we cant win 2 of the 4 on some 3 on others we have in hand on those above theres something wrong

THREADS LIKE THIS ARE REALLY REALLY ANNOYING
WEVE BEEN HAPPY FOR A FEW HOURS
I KNOW ILL FIND SOMETHING REALLY REALLY NEGATIVE TO SAY ABOUT THINGS

Lets not dream at all, lets just give up and forget why we started watching football in the first place
Id rather not win a cup and want to concentrate on winning 1 of 4 in hand to climb out of the bottom 4

ARE YOU FOR REAL
LET ME KNOW WHEN YOUR HOLDING YOUR NEXT LECTURE ON POSITIVE THINKING

Sod that. Last year 74 points got 6th spot. 15 wins from our last 18 games and we have 74 points!!

Can even afford to rest the first team for the last 3 games.

It's a forum, mate, with opinions as varied as the fan base. If someone is being negative, come back with some positive.

Don't worry your nemesis Harrys Game will be on later to calm us all down.

There is no reason why we can't take some of the confidence and momentum gained from the FA Cup into the league however we need to seperate the two in my opinion.

yes , but why do we get 200 negative threads for every positive one
and do we need them after weve won , come on lets enjoy the good days or at least try
if we win it in May I expect similar threads within the hour

Because stats speak for themselves and we still have a good bit of work to do in the league and despite us doing shit hot in the cup Beating 3 good teams, this won't get things done in the league for us will it.

Look at Wigan. They threw all of the eggs in one basket and went for it in the FA Cup, fair play they won the fooker but got relegated as a result of it. None of us want relegation so we need to make sure the heads are very much still on what we have to do in the league.

stat is we are in the last 8 , with a home tie
only one we should consider

we are in a better position than Chelsea and Man Utd whos stats are far better

and Wigan were playing prem teams in their relegation battle , we arent

One fact remains the same, you keep your head on the job in hand. Take your eyes off the ball and you can fuck it up.

Love your optimism but don't want to be sat here in a month or 2 f'ing and blinding about how the FA Cup fucked up our season and how we have a 7-9 point gap to make up or we are down. The teams around us don't have the distractions! They have one sole target and we need to get our heads focused in the same way. Seperate the two completely.

Win the FA Cup, win as many league games as it takes to stay up.

We shouldn't concentrate more on one or the other, just go out to not lose every game and take the spirit and confidence from the FA cup and we should be getting a few wins in the league too.

This season in the league is a right off, we need the striker, but let's survive and then kick on next season.

Exactly lets just win everything!

And SUFC have what...TWO targets!! Is that really gonna be the knife in the back of this season? Those players, if they can't get their tiny footballer's minds around being in the cup as well as the league, shouldn't be footballers...I mean come on FFS, do we seriously think they are gonna be thinking "oh this is the cup...we don't really want to win this game cos it'll make winning the league games more difficult" ?? The FA cup cannot and will not f**k up our season...only the playing and managing staff are capable of that...and, I reckon, if they follow this ridiculous train of thought that means a good result against a team in a higher division in the cup leads to a loss in the league because the players are tired or couldn't get up for a game against a third division team then we should all just stop going and f**k it, let them play in an empty stadium. There's plenty of other stuff to do at the weekend instead.
F**k that. Play every game to win. And if you don't win tough shit. As long as you tried we'll appreciate it. But give up on the cup "to secure a place in division three"?!?!

crazy talk.

The cup was an unwelcome distraction, but not now it's not.
Ok we all secretly know we aren't gonna win it, but just getting to the final would be the greatest achievement for the club in nearly hundred years. If we get through to the semi and play one of the brighton/hull/sunderland lot that isn't totally impossible. They're all crap really. Play like we did against Villa, Fulham and Forest we could just pull it off. Who cares if Man City beat us 8-0 in the final, just getting there would be a once in a lifetime feat. And once you're there, hey... Murphy through on goal in the first minute...gets brought down by the keeper...red card... who knows.

The league should take care of itself. If we can't beat the crap down the bottom of division 3 then they all want nobbin. No excuses now, they've shown they're good enough.

I have always clung to the belief that, every United team, in every game, has played to win.
This has helped me cope throughout many seasons of uninspiring results.
