Nathan Thomas - I've been impressed with the few glimpses I've seen of him. Very direct with pace and always looking to take a shot on goal. Here's a cracker from the PL Cup last night.

Maybe he's not ready for a start in the first team yet, but I'd like to see him get on the bench and give him 20 or 30 mins at the end of a game when we are coasting to victory - like the one tomorrow perhaps?

Maybe I'm not in the normal TFIF mood, but I'm coming over all Pinchy on this.

I'd love to see him given a spot on the bench. I think he could make an impact as the opposition won't know much about him and he could surprise us all. From what I've seen of him he's a bit like ched and brooks. He's not afraid to run at the opposition and have a shot!. I M O.

Good to know we have such talented youngsters in reserve. If he repeats moments like this regularly in training his chance will come, its a long season.

Been saying this to the lads for weeks, I'm not sure why he isn't in the squad more often, he looks a decent player to me, bit raw, but he needs introducing every now n then I think.

That's a beauty and from the bit's I've seen of him he looks to have summat about him....guess he's not up to scratch yet but something of an enigma eh?

Presumably because we haven't needed him because we've been winning more often than not.

We're 3rd in the league, think it's understandable we haven't felt the need to use him thus far.

He's a prospect but he's still very raw.

Whilst i agree with the sentiment, he did look good when he came on against, Norwich, I think!? I'm not sure who he would've got on the field in front of over the past month?

Looked great against Walsall in the cup, said after he was hoping Wilder would consider him for the Boro game but he was still working on his fitness.

Weird it's taking so long for him to be in the team proper but obviously Wilder and Knill know more than I.

Always nice to have someone on the bench who can offer something different and unsettle defences , which was Pesch's forte.

Geeimarun.

Would be a bit risky with both him and Brooks in the team. I'm all for GIVINUMACHANCE but not all at once.

It's interesting, isn't it, how people view the same thing and reach completely different conclusions.
The only time I've seen him was the end of the Norwich game and I thought he was awful. Headless chicken in the making was my immediate assessment.
As we were struggling at the time I am happy to give him another chance when needed but I wouldn't replace any of our attackers on the bench with him unless they're injured.

The boy is 23 years old and we are his seventh club. If he's "not yet ready" for first team action, why is he with us?

On that reasoning, explain Hanson on the bench Tuesday??

Both him and Baldock were introduced to the TC Suite a couple of weeks ago. When asked by the host(can't remember if it was TC or Kevin Gage) how he was progressing he replied that he was transitioning to wing back. He suggested he was ok with the attacking side of the role but still had a lot to learn about the defensive side. He also commented that it would be very difficult to force his way into the team as he is behind Stevens and Lafferty.
The goal he scored suggests he is comfortable on the right although tends to favour cutting in and shooting with his left. Could he make a start at right back if Baldock doesn't recover in time. I know Basham is the obvious choice but I do like him at centre half. He is the most comfortable of the centre backs bringing the ball out of defence

An experienced different option.

Thomas doesn't offer anything dramatically different from Carruthers and Brooks.

Regardless, we're not in a position to bring in players for their own development at this stage. Would have preferred to see him go to a League 1 club on loan at this stage tbh; ditto for Ben Hennighan. Alas, the powers that be decided to do away with the loan window.

A 'Pool fan told me he is a 'maverick' of a player. Could be an outstanding match winner in L2 and way their best player but could be infuriating.

To me he would be a big asset on the bench when CW thinks he has earned the right. The lad seems humble and willing to learn and delighted to be at a 'big club'. If he does earn the right we may well have an 'unpolished diamond' to watch and who knows how good he can be?

Morphing him into a wing back may not be the way forward. Rather change the formation to accommodate him when Plan B or Plan C are needed.

Five liked to see Hanson and Lavery go out on loan or perminantly but we can't have everything.
But, without giving Thomas a chance, be it for "his own benefit" or not, how will we find out if he's our "other" Brooks??
He's already shown glimpses of what he can do, he deserves a 15min run every now n then. I'm sure Wilder will decide when he's ready though.

Please do not disrespect Hanson. He is a quality player in what he does.

There will be no shortage of clubs anxious to sign him up if we release him.

Plan B or C last 20 minutes. The man can be a presence, head the ball excatly where it should be and, most importantly, has the experience to know what's going on in the penalty area. Sharp would benefit no end if Hanson played alongside him every week/
