Listening to Chris' interview and he sounds understandably furious. Specifically asked about characters in the squad and was quite honest saying there weren't many in the team, including amongst the ones he has brought in.
I think he needs to start Wright, whether in a back 5 or possibly to replace Wilson for a while.I think he brought Jake in as back up but also with one eye on his leadership qualities, whilst wanting to develop a young CB partnership as his first option. The first half tonight must have him questioning that decision.

Hope to god we have a few signings on the way in now but I would seriously consider starting Wright and giving him the armband. It might knock Billy's nose out of joint but he has enough character to crack on and score goals.

THIS ^^^

You don't spend 5 years as a captain at any level without having some leadership qualities, and we fucking need it now.

Where's this interview mate? Only reason I'm still up!

I've never agreed with strikers being captains, or goalkeepers really. Should always be CBs or CMs. Billy stays up front and does fuck all to defend most of the time. That's not a leader

Jake Wright isn't good enough to start in League 2.

Why is Wilder furious? That fucking hopeless, aimless, whack-it-long football has to be his tactical masterplan?

The defence was catastrophic for the goals, but the midfield and forwards never ever looked capable of scoring a goal or creating a decent chance. Was there an effort on goal tonight to add to the one we created on Saturday? I think in the first half there was a cross/shot that was tossed in towards the net that the keeper easily caught? Devastating.

3rd bottom, equal worst goal difference, actual worst shots on target stats.

Who else thinks we'll stay up?

It was live on RS sheff about 20 mins ago with Andy Giddings. They normally link to them the footy heaven webpage/twitter page later in the evening.

Something has to change quick. It's OK Wilder talking a good game but the majority of players out there tonight are his signings. He's starting to give me those Micky Adams jitters.

He might talk a good game, but if he just stands there with his hand in his pockets it doesn't help. Show some passion. His wife decided not to clean his shirt from Saturday as it was still fresh. biggest disappointment of this season is Wilder so far.

Most of our team wouldn't be based on that tonight .He captained a promotion team so is worth a try in my opinion. A no-nonsense leader who likes to bark orders, when was the last time we had one of them.

The tactics are a bit odd, it's true. We should be playing through Fleck but the front line is still developing an understanding I suppose. It will take the team time to settle but you have get the basics right and that defending was shambolic tonight. It's a shame because the 2 CBs were looking ok up until now but tonight was inexcusable.

Probably an unfair detail to mention, but we conceded both goals when Wright was on the pitch at Halifax.

Personally I think there's a bit too much talk of "leaders", "the right personality", "mental strength", attitude, experience, etc. Our first eleven is very experienced, is it really that which is preventing us from playing good football? There are a few weaknesses and it's not working the way it is currently. I think Chris Wilder should primarily try to get the balance and tactics spot on for each game, not focus too much of this "look the players in the eyes to see if they've got what it takes"-stuff.

Fair enough mate, I didn't see the friendlys and yes you are right that there is more to it than just character but having a grizzled old head in a team normally helps.
