Looking at the ticket prices for the next few away trips, it's starting to get very difficult to justify the expenditure in going to follow your team.

I went into the ticket office and paid £25 for a Forest ticket on Monday, it's going to be £23 tonight for Swansea and £28 on Monday for Wolves.

That's £76 in tickets alone.

Unless something is done to make the pricing more attractive for shitholes like Wolves and the rest, I can see me missing a few away matches in the New Year.

I've been to the grounds, I don't need the loyalty points, I do enjoy the trips but I also need the cash.

What would be the ideal ticket price for you?

I'd say between £15-£20 is reasonable... £28 is just damned ridiculous.

Yeah about £20 seems alright for the bigger clubs. Don't know how Swansea can justify £23 really. I was going to go to that one, but not bothering now.

Was going to do Swansea but now OHs lost his job there is no way we can afford it.
Hope to get to the Burnley home game but that's only because I've got a train voucher and I'm already in Yorkshire (Leeds) that weekend.
As for the grounds I've already done I don't miss it when I'm not at those matches one bit.

Just got my ticket for Ipswich...nearly £20 for an under 20 ticket, it's a p*** take.

Needs to be a limit for each division...
Prem: £25-£30
Champ: £20-£25
League 1: £15-£20
League 2: £10-£15
(At most!)

Surely its a bit less of a pisstake when you are actually 22 years old buying an under 20 ticket?

Nope. :D I refuse to pay nearly £30 to a club I give enough money to anyway.
I'm over 20 yep but they won't miss the extra money and I definitely would at the present time as I'm struggling to get to any matches or doing anything half fun due to lack of funds.

That's okay then :) they'll not miss it when us who have to pay full going rate (and equally can't afford it) for their age group get an extra couple of quid on the tickets due to lower takings on the gate :)

That's the thing, I will miss it.

I love the atmosphere, the banter and the company and the excuse to sit in a pub at 11am on a Saturday morning. But the more expensive it gets, the more resigned I am to having to miss some of it to ensure that I can get to the rest.

I already know I'm going to have to miss Tuesday night matches next year because of a course I'm going on... so I'm already sacrificing some for my future career. I don't want to have to lose the rest :(

I look under 20...not my chioce so might as well make the most of it while I can.
I can't afford to go and pay the full price, I can barely afford the £19.50. If I could afford it, I'd pay the full price like everyone else. Things are pretty bad at the moment (worse than when me and the OH were both out of work last year and I'm working part time now) and it's probably the only game I'll be going to before February/March. You go to most games...therefore you must be able to afford it or you wouldn't go.

Ipswich have always charged high prices including putting the price up on the day of the game.
The prices are a **** take and if it was any other game I wouldn't be going.

I'm not denying that needs must sometimes :)

Just think it's a bit cheeky complaining a price is too high when you should be paying the higher rate anyway :D

Imagine how you'd feel if you did pay full price!

I missed it at first (was so different after doing nearly every game for 4 or 5 seasons) but I don't anymore. Since moving away and settling down somewhere else I've put other things first. Money wise I've had to do so but I don't miss it now. More to life than football nowadays for me whereas before there wasn't. Don't get me wrong, I love the Blades and I'll always support them and want to be near a radio/tv on a saturday afternoon/tuesday night but now the result doesn't bother me one bit. :)

I wouldn't be going, simple as..the game I look forward to most nowadays too.

Talking about tickets here is mine from last night :)

Last season I went to three away matches. Scunny, because it was near and it was a day out with one of my brothers. Swillsboro, ditto, and because he went for the tickets and had actually managed to be tho one copper in South Yorkshire on leave that day, and to Southampton because it was the last match of the season and a rare night away from wife and daughter.
The reasons I don't go to more are simple. The first is because I like to spend time with my family at weekends. I get up at silly o'clock for work during the week so that rules out midweek away matches. The main one however is the cost. It's not just the extortionate ticket prices, it's also the extras - travel, beer, food and the like.
While many clubs are charging well over £20 and often nearer £30 then they aren't going to see much of me, and certainly not more than once per away ground.

First call on using your season ticket :)

I am of the same opinion. Last season i went to Blackpool Barnsley sty and Southampton. Sty and Southampton for the same reasons you gave. Barnsley because it was so cheap and 5k+ Blades and Blackpool because it was cheap travel and cheap tickets.

If you take the Ipswich match as an example this weekend, £28 match ticket + £27 travel.

£55 and you aint spent a penny on food, drink or any fancy little things.

The cost to go to that 1 match is between about £80-£100, thats about 2/3 nights out over town for me or a selection of new 'threads'.

I only hope that we get promoted and play the likes of Sunderland, Newcastle and Middlesbrough!

Then i can get myself to an away match for about £30!

Yep, last season I did Norwich, Colchester and Ipswich as they are the closest and Southampton as I've got relatives near there. Did Pigsborough as the OH hadn't been to a Sheffield derby before plus West Brom as I'd never been there and we got a £9 travelodge room in Birmingham for the night. I wanted to go to a few more but couldn't afford it and I was gutted but this season I don't mind missing games. Funny how time makes a difference!
I miss home games more than away games nowadays.

Blades fans VAT winners

Fans of Sheffield United today became some of the first supporters in the country to benefit from a reduction in VAT rates.

The Championship club lowered prices for this season's remaining category A* and A games at Bramall Lane.

With a number of high profile fixtures to come the Blades are confident the fans will be the real winners.

The Blades have taken £1 off adult and concession tickets for Cat A* and Cat A home league games (Junior Blade prices stay the same) - a bigger reduction than the 2.5% reduction in VAT. The reductions are also included in the just released mini-season ticket packages.

The club's Superstore is also passing on the reduction to fans - discounting all products by the 2.5% as well as continuing a number of other offers with over 70 products included in a 3 for 2 promotion.

"We hope this move helps fans when times are tough," said Ticket Office Manager Emma Wylie.

"The majority of our games between now and the end of the season are high profile. Those that are not are mainly category C, which are already heavily discounted."

Meanwhile, United boss Kevin Blackwell has backed the launch of the mini-season tickets which cover the period when the Blades play Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Doncaster as well as high profile games against Birmingham City, Derby County and Nottingham Forest.

With United attracting average crowds of more than 25,000 for the third season running, he said:

"Fans know as much as I do how much the team and I value their support. We are immensely proud to have had such high attendances over the last three seasons.

"Please support us again throughout the second half of the season when we hope to fulfil all our ambitions

"The final eleven home league games of the season promise to be fantastic and we hope you are able to join us for the final push to where we all want and should be - the Premiership!

Prices start from £194 (concessions £121). Under 12s are free if purchased with an adult ticket, otherwise £68.

As well as guaranteeing a seat the mini season ticket brings other benefits, including up to £176 in club savings, loyalty points which provide priority on away match bookings, and early renewal discount against next season's prices.

* Supporters purchasing a Mini Season Ticket before Friday, 19th December will receive a free ticket for the Blades v Crystal Palace match on 20th December.

Our game against Brum is now on Sky... played Sunday 1st March :)

The reduction in VAT prices for our tickets is lovely. Will it be backdated for those of us who bought our season tickets for this season last season?

Yes I read this earlier on OS, but I have my reservations as we always bloody loose whenever I watch us on T.V. :(

It's getting as though I can't watch us any more, watched the piggy game in my local with a sty load of Holiday makers.. Good banter etc, shite result.

If anyones interested I will be in the Kings Sword, Ayia Napa, but don't forget the kick off is two hours in advance... Two euros for a pint of knats piss...:D
