Throw Ins

We're rubbish from them. There just seems to be no interest whatsoever from the team to receive the throw in, there's absolutely no movement at all .

Is it me, or are we particularly shite at throw ins? I don't know exactly how creative or incisive you can get from a throw in but anything's got to be better than shuffling around trying to avoid making eye contact with the player with the ball.
Why limit it to throw ins, our corners are chronic and our set pieces are simply poor.

Yeah I know, we're proper shit at them. I mean it's not as if murphys first v Swindon was started from a throw

Agree...in fact I'd extend that to most set pieces in particular corners...is it just me? They should be a massive pressure and advantage but 99.9 % of the time they are a pathetic anti climax! Surely this is something that can be perfected on the training ground.
Incidentally heard Davies talking about PNE win on 5 live. He indicated that they were forced to watch their previous poor performances to see for themselves where they were going wrong. This clearly helped them I see no harm in subjecting our players to focusing on their shortfalls...they could start with set pieces!

I used to blame Baxter ,because everyone is like Groundhog day ,one hand in the air a floaty ball to the penalty spot for the defender to head away. But he must be instructed to do this because they are so chronically shit that no player would just keep doing that without getting a bollocking.

I think we float it in to make it a little more difficult for defenders to clear - trying to get a scramble like the one JCR scored at QPR
The congestion in the six yard box that results from a floated delivery makes it difficult for the keeper to claim and also means that it is more difficult for the opposition to counter from that position - hence it's almost a defensive measure on our part.
Since we have no height there is no point whipping it in as the defenders can use that pace to clear it further up-field and potentially break on us.
I think the regularity of the same technique used time and time again is reflective of our shortcomings at such set pieces.

I've noticed our poor throw ins all season, NOBODY MOVES! But you cannot beat our shocking floating corners (spurs away) that Reed was instructed to do.

when was the last time we scored from a set piece?? just out of curiosity (not penalties.. free kick, corner etc)

Campbell-Ryce's first goal at QPR maybe? That was reliant on some truly horrible defending from them rather than outstanding work from us though.
