Can't remember a team scoring such quality goals against us - the second goal in particular. Yes the defence and midfield stand back too much, but credit to Peterborough. Their number ten Ehrun Oztumer was the stand out player and for such a small player didn't get bullied off the ball. Surely he will be playing at a higher level soon if today's performance is anything to go by.

We stood off far too much and were almost inviting them to shoot. The difference is that they have a midfield with pace who aren't afraid to have a go at goal. Our midfield is exactly the opposite.

They weren't worldies.
We made them look good.

Proper defences would have snuffed all three out.

The last one in particular was criminal defending.

Agree . Never mind a game we could have won , more like should have won. We have a tendency to make opposition individuals, teams look better than they actually are . Worldie goals at the lane , more like woeful unprofessional defending from every player , not just the back 4 . Still time to remedy the problem , but history tells us otherwise.

I though Long could have done better with the first two. I might reconsider after the replays.

how many times are we going to expect beard, coutts and billy to bail us out. if we'd had a half competent defence that would have been two nil

It's no coincidence how many long range shots we concede. Some used to blame Howard but it's clear now that it's because we don't just invite teams to shoot, we practically beg them to have a shot.

The third goal was anything but world class in my opinion. I couldn't believe the defending.

Let's not kid ourselves. Let's not tell ourselves that these goals were world-class and paper over the fact that the defending, yet again at BDTBL, was sub-par.
How many times are we going to ship 3/4 goals at home? How many times are we going to "turn the corner?"
Collins should be replaced as a priority.

there's a lot of truth in this. .we don't close anyone out around the D.. they were throwing bodies in all over the place

first one was a right footer that bent right into the top left corner from outside the left post. i was right behind it.
Was it hit that hard, that deep into the corner? I didn't think so at the time.

Credit the attacker, but our defence were barely even looking when the throw in was taken. Totally asleep. It was a reflection of how long Posh had taken with every set piece prior to the goal. But as soon as they conceded they played quickly and we were dozing. Awful defending, super footwork and finish.

Don't get me wrong if it was Sammon who had danced past three people and slotted it in (;)) then I would have been raving about it but if our players were doing their jobs he wouldn't have even been in the area

I wouldn't question their 1st goal but maybe he could have done better for their 2nd but hey if you let teams have shooting practice ........................

We just never seem to learn either. This has been happening since Clough was here. We just seem to have no clue what to do when teams have the ball just outside the area.
the centre halves never seem to know when to stay or go.. or they get it wrong too often.. however in their defence they shouldn't be having to decide so often for my liking

The first was a fantastic strike.

The second their number ten was allowed to run to far and the shot looked a little floaty to me and I thought was saveable.

The defending on the third goal was unspeakably bad.

I agree. I think Bergen Blade showed earlier in the season when the defence were getting slaughtered by everyone that a bigger issue seemed to be the midfield not closing people down. I had hoped the introduction of Hammond and the 'new' way we have been playing had put a stop to it but it was back in all it's horrible glory today

Went to get a drink at half-time. Totally oblivious, when I got back and eased myself into my seat, I had a glance at the scoreboard... It was 1-2 !

I won't debate the fact that our defending could've been better but if we score them 3 goals then we would be sat here creaming over the fuckers.

Great finishes all of them but if you're allowed to waltz through our entire defence unchallenged it makes it easier to shoot.

Not just our defence, our midfield too mate. Our defence has to do an hell of a lot at times and does come in for some stick, admittedly, most of it is warranted but the midfield can help out.
