Three subs returns or does it ?

I think allowing 11 subs, but only 3 changes might have been a good compromise. It would have allowed flexibility for potential injuries, but would have still meant that the top teams don’t have the advantage to change half of their side.

Big clubs didn't get their way in the first 2 votes, so now they get to push a third vote through. Fucking stinks

Doesn't really matter for us we will never use more than two anyway... 😉 😂

The two chief protagonists for this are Guardiola and Klopp who - used 3 subs between them when they last met.

I don't get why the big clubs are pushing for it to be honest, they have the squads.

I've seen Duffy tweet in support of it from an injuries angle, and Blades Analytic tweet about it, and yeah I don't want any players to get injured, but a) you shouldn't change the rules in the middle of a season, and b) the managers should just play someone else.

It's not meant to be easy to be top of the league, in the cups and playing in Europe.

If Pep can't play Aguero every week, play Jesus, or Torres, or Sterling etc. Pretty much all the clubs outside us, West Brom, Burnley, Fulham, Leeds (and possibly Palace and Villa but I think they're a bit better off than the 5 I listed) have enough quality to take 5 players out of their best XI and still have a chance to win games, especially in the top 6.

If they want to be able to take them off, why don't they just not play them if they're concerned about their fitness? Instead of trying to have their cake and eat it by being successful and having it made easier to remain so.

It would be a better league for having a bit more variety and opportunities for the inexperienced/younger players and fringe players to get games at every club.

They've already changed the handball and denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity rules so why not move onto subs?!

True, but everyone was in favour of that I think. It was ridiculous.

It absolutely reeks though that the big clubs have managed to get this to the point of being voted on multiple times.

No means no. The PL need to get their shit together and make a rule that says things can be voted on once, and if a majority decision is reached, it's final until the next season.

I think we all need to give in. blade too long is right and we’re all wrong. Modern footballers are unfit and couldn’t hold a candle to the bitter drinking, woodbine smoking pro’s of yesteryear. They are all getting smashed in their mansions and not wanting to play too many games despite being paid a fortune to do so. End thread now.
I think you'll probably find the same kind of footballer is still there, he just get's his kicks in powder or pill form these days.
I'll also be amazed if the next big issue brought up isn't a ten minute brake each half, in order to give advertising more room on TV .....

This is my take too.

Klopp has been complaining after TAA got injured but my question to him would be how much have you been looking after TAA? How much have you been rotating him? He's played every minute until getting injured. So the argument falls down. If you're rotating all the time and maxing out subs and still getting soft tissue injuries I'd consider revisiting.

But they're not. So it's just for the Big Six to create a "here comes the cavalry" moment from the bench. More clubs are open because they have points on the board.

Frankly it's bollocks. To change mid competition impacts the integrity. They've had 2 votes. They shouldn't be allowed another vote until next season.

this from the big teams winds me up

i said way back in may. that i thought European competion should take a sabbicatal ie Champions league & Europa League because the idea of trying to shoehorn in season already 6 weeks shorter full league, domestic cup + European competition.

but they didnt want that & lose out on riches. so complaining that tv companies are putting health over money is pot calling the kettle black
