It happened at the very end of the 1972 FA Cup final. Luckily soon after that the final whistle was blown. He couldnt go with the team to collect the cup and the medals from the queen so afterwards Norman Hunter helped him up the Royal steps to collect his medal from the queen

Mick Jones was a very good player. I always felt that he made the most of his talent because he knew what he could do and what he couldn't do. His decision-making was excellent, and thus he brought out the best in those around him.

Harris wanted to resign after the board accepted L**ds offer. The board managed to make him change his mind. L**ds chairman promised Dick Wragg that he would vote him to be in the FA international committee

Yep 67 so I was only 6 but remember him like yesterday top drawer .

Mick Jones has certainly altered, mind you last time I saw him was a good few years ago when he was a regular at the lane, he then took a corporate role at Bell End Rd so didn't see much of him after that.

Correct. And Birchenall went a couple of months later.

Over the course of the three seasons that they played together for us (1964-7) they scored half of all our league goals. Not really surprising that we got relegated after they were sold.
