The second half was like the United of pre December, looked like everything we'd worked to rid ourselves of all came back at once. What an earth was said at half time?

The last 3 or 4 games and up to half time today we have shown fight, desire, some sort of defensive ability and even a bit of quality going forward at times.

In a bad half you may drop in one or two of those areas but it just seemed like the lot went out the window.

Or did Peterborough just say, "Fuck's sake. This is Sheffield United we are playing here. Lesser teams have come here and wiped their arses with them."

That's how shit it has become.

It was disappointing after a very good last 30 minutes of the first half. Credit to Peterborough, they continued to attack and did it well.
Billy needs a partner and Coutts should be central.
Never got a head of steam up in the second half and FFS shoot from outside the area, like the opposition do.
UTB!!

I'd agree. Our recent upsurge was, at times, very fortunate and papered over the cracks. More relevant surely on our 'progress' was the fact that Shrewsbury came here five weeks ago and stuffed us. Today, they've lost 7-1 at fucking Chesterfield.

Unless serious decisions are made - pronto - we're going to throw away a golden legacy. That's over 47,000 fans who've attended at Bramall Lane in the last 5 days. Next Saturday should net us at least £1m. It won't last.

The second Peterborough goal was the game changer coming so early in the second half, if that hadn't gone in then I think it would have been a different story it visibly knocked the stuffing and belief out of us for most of the half.

We murdered them first half and were outstanding. We're getting there.

We just need to jettison the likes of Higdon, JCR, etc but I think it will be difficult.

Unprofessional conceding in the first 5 minutes of each half and with 60 seconds of equalising

Yep, let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. We are progressing, at last. It won't happen overnight because we aren't good enough as a squad - but at last it looks like we stand for something.

Unfortunately, without backing from above which looks like has dried up, we are held back by a big squad of overpaid average players. It will take the summer to sort. Painful as though it is, we should treat any success this season as a bonus.

I agree with this i think whats got us results recently will still get us results from.now till seasons end
But we always get days like this from the players and we all know why

Still think we can do enough to make the play offs but we wont win them

Funnily enough, I'm not sure we'll reach the play offs, but if we do... I believe it's ours!

What decisions? It's pretty clear what direction and policy the club has. Sell the better players and try to 'make do and mend' with the players who are of lesser ability. People will say, 'well, we've got Billy Sharp' and I say 'big deal'. A man who has been round the buoy three times with us and effectively failed to make his mark at better clubs. A poor acquisition, alongside many other poor acquisitions without thought or reason as tto where the weaknesses really are at the back five including the goalkeeper.

Expect nothing from the JTW. Forget the Murphy money (how much was it, exactly?) and anything else we have been promised. We are in the third division and we deserve what we get.

Sharp played well again today and is on track for 20-25 goals.

If he is, then we'd best get two penalties for the remainder of the season in each game. It sounds to me like Sharp is one of those blokes who grafts and grafts but unless he plays with a team who read his every run or he has the right players to feed him or create chances for him to feed off scraps, he fails to score.

And if he's on for that amount, we should at least make the playoffs. After today, can you see that happening?

I trade two decent centre backs, or one plus goalie for your Billy Sharp.

Sharp can make his own chances, as he did against Bradford, but at present he is also working hard creating chances for others. The main problem is a lack of a partner for him to help take some responsibility for scoring and any decent service. Coutts does some nice crosses, as does brayford but there is very little from the left or through the centre. Billy is much better with decent service but you can't fault him at present.

Surely that's how most strikers score?

1) Make a run someone passes you shoot at goal.
2) Develop an understanding with your team mates so they generally know the position you like to take up in the box
3) knock in rebounds

If all else fails put in loads of effort and make your own chances ( which Billy does)

Am I missing something?

The problem here IS NOT Billy.

Peterborough did what a lot of teams have done, which is attack at pace through midfield. We can't cope with that. Fast, tricky players prepared to shoot have been our nemesis all season. Our lack of pace and defenders unable to get a tackle in against such players has meant basically poor teams can come here and win. Peterborough actually are a decent team but yet again we seem unable to score when dominating, and concede too many goals from opponents chances.

I get your drift and let's face it, today should be a 2-0 win.

It doesn't explain the lack of ability at the back.

Said more or less the same on another thread.
