Blackpool traveling to Plymouth and Morecombe to Yeovil in midweek are done on purpose to keep weekend attendances up.

Personally I’d disagree. I’d always travel those distances on a Saturday so don’t know what meds he’s on.

Clubs request midweek fixtures to far away places as it ensures that they get bigger crowds overall if they have more local fixtures on a weekend.

I think this came up last season when someone asked why Plymouth v Carlisle was on a Tuesday night. The logic was that the die hards would go anyway and you wouldn't get many more for the fixture on a Saturday whereas if they played Exeter on a Saturday more not so die hard would come

It is a pain when the long away days are Tuesday nights and sometimes this shouldn't be the case but I suppose all teams have to play everyone at some point? For example, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Bristol City are going to have to travel a fair bit most away games.

Cardiff, QPR and Fulham..... 3 away matches I would definitely have gone to if they had been on a Saturday. Sadly despite being my own boss I won't be losing money just to attend them.
Hull City, Preston, Villa, Forest, Barnsley to name but a few. All fixtures I would have attended regardless of when they are played.
I would assume that an awful lot football fans around the country fall into the same sort of category as me.
The problem is that the EFL bigwigs just dint relate to football fans. If in doubt, I give you the Checkatrade fiasco

Whilst it does show a staggering level of arrogance from the Football League, our central location means we're not too badly off. The likes of Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Bristol City, Ipswich and Norwich are geographically isolated and so get it far worse.

We're within 100 miles of so many clubs, so just think how bad it would be if we were any of the above clubs.

It sort of does especially at lower league level and even more so if you are a Carlisle, Plymouth, Exeter. You really need any vague sort of local derby to be on your best pay day which is Saturday. For Plymouth even one of the Bristol clubs visit needs to be on a Saturday

Plymouth have got it harder than any other club in the League. Apart from Exeter the nearest club is almost 100 miles away.

Particularly bad example from the B'ham Mail. I used to drive between Reading & Aston regularly. Easily done in 2 hours. Far worse places to get to. Just avoid the M6.
Not sure I see the logic behind it. Wouldn't it be better to have the shortest trips midweek & London games at weekends?
