Duo tracking Thompson situation

David Thompson could be on the way out of Portsmouth in January despite only arriving at Fratton Park in the summer with Bolton and Sheffield United keen.
The former Liverpool and Blackburn midfielder was among Harry Redknapp's first signings over the summer, putting pen-to-paper on a one-year deal.

However Thompson has started just two games this season and is believed to be frustrated at a lack of action.
Pompey snapped up Niko Kranjcar, Manuel Fernandes and Rodolphe Douala late in August and all would appear to be ahead of Thompson in the pecking order.
Sean Davis, Pedro Mendes Matt Taylor and Gary O'Neil have been Redknapp's first choice midfield in the mainand despite Thompson's versatility he has been unable to force his way into the reckoning.
Both Bolton and Sheffield United are keen to bolster their squad in January and Pompey could choose to let the midfielder leave for nothing or a nominal fee.
Mmm might be a decent signing perhaps.
