The problem is that you cannot bring players in that are contracted to other clubs unless those clubs agree. At the moment Southend and Blackburn won't sell unless presumably we were to offer silly money. Why do you assume the board is not backing Wilder?

You haven't got a clue, have you?
If we all individually name almost everybody and anybody, the next time we lose a game after the window, no matter who CW has actually bought - there will be lots of names who the skin-flint Board have missed out on - so lots of 'justified' moaning
You're right. I haven't got a clue because I've never been a manager at a championship club. I'm just fed up with the constant moaning!!. Wilder has always said that we're not in a position to start spunkin moneh!!. We're currently 5th in this division after a good win yesterday over a stalwart championship side!!. Lets just enjoy the good times!. FFS

Nail on head for the S24SU scouting team. If only Wilder and his team were so thorough and our board had the negotiating abilities to pay exactly the right fee for a player and pay him exactly what they want. We'd be, well, bankrupt.

Will either make or break our season? If the board have a brain cell between them, they'll go running to the messiah (Wilder) and tell him to buy whoever he wants (within reason) because as it is, we're 5th with basically the same pub team league players from last season? My faith in CW/AK is such, that I believe we're currently 4 quality players away from a guaranteed top 6 finish, be that loans, or permanent signings.
2 pacey forwards. Coady/Leonard for midfield, and another defender. Strike be proactive and back our manager from a position of strength Blades.

Personally I think we’re pretty much OK in GK, defence and midfield. We needed a striker and with Lavery’s injury added to Clarke’s suspension, Evans being unconvincing and Hanson presumably being out of the door, I think we now need 2 strikers. A defender/midfield utility (Bash/Leonard/Lenihan type) player would be handy to beef the squad up a bit but it’s not desperate. The only additions we really need to make now are up front. A good target man and a forward with blistering pace and we’d be well set til January I reckon.

I suspect we’ll see a forward in on loan (possibly Sinclair) but don’t know if we’ll get the 2 that we could really do with.

Seems to be a lot of clamour here for players to strengthen us and capitalise on this momentum.

Sorry, but bringing in another 3/4 players 'to strengthen' us might just do the complete opposite and kill the momentum we have. Strengthening the first XI also comes at a wage cost and Wilders believe in a tight wage structure and honest pro's has got us into this position in the first place.

Remember, Wilder has only dropped 1 player from last season through choice. We have the momentum because of the continuity. Disrupting that with different flavours of a midfield 3 and a front 2 might be completely detrimental.

It's OK talking about spending millions on player's but with that comes a higher wage and the first step on the road to disharmony in the dressing room. Most people tend to forget this is a team game and big time Charlie's can do more harm than good.

Well there that's where the manager comes in. Team spirit or not, we do need more players in. Both midfield and strikers

Coady and Murphy would do it for me, even if that is Bladey Bladeness. They'd improve us considerably and would presumably settle quickly.

Agreed on Coady but we also need a centre forward. I can imagine Murphy being a possibility. Brighton have started poorly and already sign3d a couple of wide players. Murphy will be a bit part player for them however I'm not totally convinced he will fit into Wilder system.

Please can I asked United not to announce any signings until 5 mins before the "transfer window slams shut".

Just so we can see the meltdown about Wilder not being supported by the board (and then to shut the frantics up who get face on because Jim White doesn't mention us in the last hour no matter how many players we have signed the previous three months!!)
