This Time Last Year

Was really up for it. If I remember rightly we were on TV the Friday night afore everyone kicked off. Just like this year. We played well and easily deserved a draw. The last gasp goal by Phillips was a real kick in the nether region.
I would settle for a draw on Friday, but even if we lose, as long as we play well, it won't be the end of the world.

Yeah, we played really well and then what a kick in the teeth at the end...

I can't wait for tomorrow - last season was a big disappointment in the end, but I'm optimistic about this season, just like any other.

That's not to say I'll still feel this way in a few months time, but I don't understand the negativity of some before the season has even started. It's a results business and so it's very difficult to judge anything until there have actually been some results

I just hope Blackwell and the team have put the Play Off Final defeat truly behind them...I hope they can take the positives out of getting so close - after all, I really didn't think it likely at Christmas.

The first game against Brum kinda summed up the whole season, nearly so very nearly and just failed at the very very end.

Seems to me that we are not a play off team (well we certainly don't do well in them) so lets try for automatic. :thumbup:

We were. It was still the first game of the new season as they didn't have the friday night slot that weekend.

Yes it was the saturday lunch kick off, kept coming through that the pigs were winning 4-0 as we made our coach journey home even worse.
Poor home attendance that day by brum to say they were fancied to go up & the opening day too.

All I can think of is the years after we reached the play-off final in 2003... with people booing the players off at the last game against Millwall in 2004.

That said... I always look forward to the new season. Idiot I am

Me too; though i would imagine we will see something more akin to the performance against Brum at the start of last season.

Hopefully this time it will be Chedders popping up in the box in the dying embers of the game

Aye, we played well without creating too many chances, defensively it was probably one of the bravest performances I can think of. I remember thinking Sun Jahai was going to be immense! Halford had an absolute shocker though.

He was a slow burner was Halford which is probably why he has failed to impress for the top flight clubs he has played for. Nobody has really given him a contant run in the first team; we did and we reaped the benefits (for a while).

KB deserves credit for sticking with him.

I remember thinking after last season's defeat at Brum that if we'd been a bit more positive we would have taken all 3 points. It was quite a good (if dour) performance, only spoiled by Phillips' late goal. Another point would have proved quite useful later in the season!! If we get a quick tempo tomorrow night, don't give them any room and use the ball sensibly instaed of whacking it upfield, i reckon we can do it. COYRAWW..

Stand to be corrected , as you guys have pointed out it was Saturday.

Just think though at the moment we are top of the league.
