With united apparently putting a list together of players we are going to let go on a free who else do you think will go and what sort of cash do you think we will get? i was also wondering what people think about there replacements, whether you think we can use a junior/fringe player or need to bring in someone new.

I will have a guess at the following.

MONTY:- i do think he will go this time and i am guessing we will get around 500k
CHED :- surely we need to get rid of his wages and i will expect him to leave for similar to monty around 500k
CRESWELL :- can't make my mind up on him don't think many will want to pay his wages but another in my eyes that needs to go i would expect a free transfer
BOGGY :- I can see him going abroad most likely a free transfer as well

I will be really surprised if the 4 above start the season, it is common knowledge that we are skint and need to make cutts. Unfortunately i can see more outs than in.

KEEPER
I Think we will stick with what we have the question is will young Long a go?

DEFENCE
With morgs back sometime soon and Harry Maguire doing well i can't see us strengthening at centre half as i expect collins to stay however i think we need a full back, it will also be interesting to see where DW plays Matty Lowton.

MIDFIELD
Somewhere again that we probably need to strengthen but i am not sure we will, if monty goes we still have Wilo, quinn, doyle, yeates not to mention a few juniors and fringe players like McAllister. I do expect at least one addition on the wing though

FORWARDS
New forwards are always top of a new managers list. With Slew hopefully staying he will play a major part for us next season, i'd like to see him partner hendo because that will give us a good balance. Strikers are always an area where you need plenty of options though so maybe a new signing there.

I am sure a few more will leave on a free to get the wage bill down but if DW can keep some of our better players togetherwith the ones that will do a better job in league 1 than they did in the championship, then at least he won't be having to start the season needing loads of new players to gel.

I read something from Wilson/ McCabe that United are doing things back to front. It certainly seems that way, hence not knowing what the transfer budget will be. Which makes things even more difficult for Wilson.

Personally I'd like Wilson to assess the players he wants to keep and get McCabe to renegotiate contracts. If they can't meet a sensible agreement, then they MUST be put on the transfer list.

My team for the first game of next season:

Long

Lowton - Maguire - TBC - TBC

TBC - Wilo - McAlister - Quinn

Ched - Slew

Long is no where near ready for first team action.
He looked awful for most of Swansea's goals despite pulling off a couple of good saves in the game. He does not read the game well enough yet. I wasn't too sure about him in the FAYC final either - some dodgy positioning there too. He also looks too small to be a top 'keeper.

McAllister is too lightweight for the moment as well. When he was picked for the first team he started the match well but soon ran out of steam and was subbed. Promising but not ready yet.

I think Lowton suffers from running out of steam too. When this happens he does not track back quick enough and loses concentration. When he played in midfield at the end of last season he was AWOL a few times when our attacks broke down and the opposition broke away. He was at least 5-10 yards slower in thought and reaction when this happened. Best if he starts at CB to add pace to the back 4. He is good in the air thouhg - in both boxes (Ched take note you nesh b'tard).

Ched is shit and should be shed. No brain, doesn't learn, cannot head the ball, no balls, hides.

Willo is interesting - everyone slags off Hendo for the red cards last season but think on how many Willo had and how long he was suspended for. Injured a lot - is he going to give us a full season? Wouldn't surprise me if he is on a fair contract and will be one to be moved on to cut the wage bill.

Grecian would sack off anyone not prepared tp play for less than 5k per week.

Goalkeeper. Stick with what we've got should Simmo accept Grecians wage structure. Long should be on the bench at least to start with.

Defence. Grecian is appalled at this aspect of the club. Save for Lowton (at right back but at CB in emergency) and McGuire the whole lot can go with their heads hung in shame.

Midfield. Monty OUT as quickly as Grecian can get the car around to his gaff, McAlister to be given a run to prove himself. Can Willo be kept fit and under £5k? Grecian thinks not so he's gone.

Wide. We have no-one worth a shite.

Up-front. Another paucity at the other end of the pitch.

Grecian is of a mind that we need several players to start the season (and not just the "squad fillers" some people were so happy to be spunking wages on last summer).

Good luck Danny Boy, you're going to need it!

McAllister was superb on his debut against Bristol. He showed more ability in one match than Montgomery Did all season. He scored cracker; He had three further shots on target; He passed well; tackled well. He was man of the match. He did not run out of steam; he was injured and thus missed the rest if the season. He left the pitch to a standing ovation. If he's lightweight at 6 feet and about 12 stone then Lord help Monty and Quinn.

Of course he's ready. He'll be first choice by October at the latest.

Shanks into touch? Hurried clareances? Desperate lunges?

These are the things that count in the engine room Pinch.

Something  something else.

A fee for Cresswell? You are joking right??

The only chance we have of shifting him on is paying his contract off! No team in the top two divisions would touch him with a bargepole, and no one in the bottom two would pay him a quarter of what we are paying him, nevermind pay a fee for him.

Who said a fee for creswell??? Free transfer for sure he'll be one of the first to go.

The problem is he will only go if we can find a club who will match the wages he is on here. Obviously none of us know what Cresswell or any other player is earning, but I would suspect that it's quite a lot and probably more than any other club at our level is prepared to pay. A free transfer won't help much.

No disrespect to Cresswell. He played very well during the 2009-10 season and giving him a new contract didn't seem a bad idea at the time. It's the length of the contract that seermed a bit foolish.

Are a few forgetting just who it was who first brought Cresswell to Sheffield for nearly £1million?

Don't disagree with all the positives you stated there Pinch but I still saw him run out if steam later on. Not a criticism of him just that he needs to get to a level of fitness to perform at first team level with consistency. To think that McA can step into the breach and be the answer to all our midfield issues is wishful thinking at best. He is one I would like to see more of but he will have to deal with opposition that are steely and hard with oldie intent of kicking him out of a game. Needs to get wise to this sort of thing to make an impact.

Hendo would be easier to sell than Creswell, I therefore think the front two pairing will be Slew and Cresswell with Hendo being moved onto a Championship club. I actually think Cresswell will score a hat full if he gets a central role with some decent service. One of my biggest frustrations has been seeing him play wide left.
I'd love to see Wilo stay as he's a great footballer to watch but he"ll be off along with Monty and Quinn.

Its not back to front, it that there isnt a budget until some players move out. There is no money for transfers or to increase the wage bill so we have to sell first.

This is worth bearing in mind. Danny Wilson signed him from York for our much maligned neighbours and gave him his first big chance.

Im expecting the opposite to mr pinder, I would be very surprised if Cresswell isnt in the squad by August. He had a very poor season but I think he will be ok in League 1.

I expect the big departures to be Monty, Evans and Henderson. One or two more will move on but I think that will be it. I dont see anymore than probably four big earners leaving because who is going to want them?
