I think it is impossible to predict anything at this stage. It looks a solid if uninspiring league this year. Thankfully two of the best footballing teams I have seen in years in this division, Wolves and Fulham, got promoted. So we don't have to compete with them. But that leaves more of the expensive professional big and brutal teams to negotiate. Something we have had problems with at times.
The great start to last season, where many teams underestimated our ability will be hard to repeat. We were "worked out" in the second half of the season, combining this with loss through injury and the form of some players we were only performing at lower mid-table levels.
New signings and a slightly modified style of play should help us establish renewed momentum. There is little doubt that CW, AK and the players will be fired up and ready for the challenge. The club's general spirit is one of its greatest assets. Remember the long dark years we have had to endure with clueless managers and journeyman players.
There will be surprise teams performing much better or worse than expected to throw into the mix. Unfortunately the pigs will probably improve on last year.
So, in summary, wait 10 games before predicting. If forced I would back us to finish 7-12th. My heart and optimism wants more, my head says wait and see what the opposition pans out like.
All the same, I cannot wait for the start and I will be bellowing my support positively as usual.
