This Season

After the brilliant start it has been a disappointing end to the season, but given where we were and the players we have it has been a good season. I believe I predicted 14th. To finish 10th with our budget and squad is testament to the great work of Wilder and Knill, and the effort and performance of the players. Most have played out of their skin and given everything.

It didn't come off in the end but most of those involved are learning at this level.

Over 3 empty months with just the torture of the World Cup until they're back out on the pitch again.

I predicted 8th or 9th and was always confident we’d finish top half.

We’ve had a great season but for me 2 words sums up the season, “missed opportunity”.
In the 1st half we consistently proved we were easily one of the best passing sides in this league.
Since the Coutts injury we’ve gone slightly more direct/ long ball every now and then.

We’ve conceded plenty of late goals and dropped loads of points.
Think we’ve been the better team in many matches, controlling games but still failed to win.

However we need to remember that this was the 1st season that Wilder has managed in the CC, so he should have learnt loads and should be a better manager next season.

Also let’s give them credit, the entertainment factor has been very high. We’ve worked hard and I’ve felt like I’ve got my club back.
This season is the 1st time since 2007 since I bought a season ticket and I’ve already renewed because it’s good value.

It’s ironic that the worse match (entertainment wise) of the season was the last game, home to Preston. It was slightly better than the PNE FA cup match which was one of the worse matches I’d seen in years.
