I often look back after weekends away or long holidays and think: "I wish I could go back to that moment just before it all happened. Just so I could experience it all again."

That moment is normally when you've just finished work and you're meeting your mates for a swift half before getting the train. When you turn up to the table full of your pals, drop your weekend bag on the floor and say 'right, who wants one?'. Everyone probably knows what I mean.

In my mind, for us as Blades fans "that moment" - or at least one of them - could well be now. The league is poised. We've got a run of huge games coming up. We have a bunch of players we can rally behind, playing exciting football and led by a boyhood Blade as captain. And we've got a manager who, forgive the cliche, is one of us. In my lifetime, this is the best it's been.

And who knows, this could be the best it'll get. Even if we get into the Premier League, we could face a season of miserable defeats most weeks. We might sign players who bring quality but take away from the team ethos, who don't "get" what it is to be a Blade. Fans could start arguing. But I'm not here to make us feel miserable. We could well have other "moments" to come as well.

Life moves pretty quickly. I'm 29 and so it'll probably amuse a few people to hear it but f*ck me do I feel like I'm getting on. When I look back on the best moments of my life so far, I just wish I'd stopped to appreciate it a bit more.

When we look back in years to come, I'm convinced we'll all want to come back to this moment. Let's all make sure we savour it.

Oh how beautiful

He's right though, this might be as good as it gets.

Yeah but we should have got more money for Brooks

Take me back to 12pm May 5th 1990. Just having a quick pint in the Norfolk arms Handsworth waiting for the lift down to Filbert street. The mood is tense, the Geordies could nick our promotion spot if we don't do the business at Leicester. The journey down, the pre match nerves like none before, the Blades climbing over walls into any stand possible just to get a view of the game, amazing scenes before and after the game. I can still see, hear and smell it. And if that wasn't enough at 10 to 5 the stadium announcer read at the scores from the first divison to spark more chaotic scenes.

Just gotta enjoy it, Villa on Friday and a chance to go top. One game at a time and who knows. We are gonna lose a few before the end of the season but we’ve just got to keep going and hope it falls in our favour.

As the (dire) first half ended on Saturday, I thought 'No booing, no Wilder out!' etc. We all knew that football has its ups and downs and get on with it. If we get to the PL, the extra 5k glory hunters (who wouldn't have been at the 1-1 home draw with Crawley on 4/10/2013 under David Weir) wouldn't be so forgiving.

Damn right, just buzzing to talk football with anyone at the moment. Blades songs in my head on the way home from work, can’t wait for the next game. As good as I’ve felt about the Blades for years.

Could just do with cranking the atmosphere up a tad at BDTBL but to be fair it wasn’t bad 2nd half when we started having a go, two way street as Wilder says.

Boxing Day v Derby is still very fresh in my mind, what a game and atmosphere, best for years. Keep this run going and there could be lots of memorable home games left this season.

Sounds like the greatest visionary since Custer.

But looking forwards, we've got a couple prospectors poised to chuck the baby, bath, water, soap and towel (should there be any muneh for a towel) out with the bath water soon.

Needs to read "Sheffield United F.C. defeat from the jaws of victory. Our special club"

That's the only thing missing. The feeling that our fans actually care. And that's a very big thing. Fuck anything on social media, there's no tangible buzz inside the ground.

Too true and LondonBlade89 was barely born. Now I feel ancient.

Away from home it’s not a problem but I agree at home it could be better. I do think the bigger games will take care of themselves (hopefully) Wednesday night needs to be hostile as fuck against Boro. Appeal for everything etc. Whether it will be I just don’t know.

Nice OP.

At nearly 46 I can promise you 29 is nothing but I fully understand your attitude. I was the same at 28/29, thinking my youth was ending not realising I wouldn't feel any different 15 years later.

You're right about enjoying it although it's sometimes harder to enjoy tense tight games when the prize gets within touching distance.

This season shouldn't actually feel that rare for a club like ourselves but sadly challenging for promotion to the top flight playing such a style only seems to come around about 3 times in 50 years for us :(

League 1 season we lost to Fleetwood on 24th Jan, we didn't lose again all season. Fuck me we were good that year.

Agree with all of that. I just hope the moment is before the FA Cup final one day.

I’m not greedy. One FA Cup and one competitive away game in Europe and I’ll be happy.

That sir is a fine post, great analogy as well. Fuck knows what it all means but it put a smile on my face and had me nodding.

Reminded me of the “this is our time” speech in the 1980’s Classic “the goonies”. One of the finest films of my childhood.

Could you pop into the dressing room on Friday night and recite it

Great post.

Since we've been back in the Championship I've never thought that we might actually go up. Always thought we were punching well above our weight and it won't last.

Today, for the first time, I was sat at my desk at work and I actually thought to myself "You know what? There's a damn good chance we could do it this season."

In a way I don't want to go up, cause I don't want this feeling to end.
