Bristol lge1 champions? Not on yesterday's performance, suspect at the back.
The last 25 minutes of the 1st half we should've had 3. We made a couple of great passing and moving into space moves. One particularly should've had someone on the end of the cross to finish it off.

last season at this point (one game) we all thought we were going to be champions so just forget about it. the first game often throws up some strange results. the same will happen at the w/e when the prem. starts

Didn't see anything at all to suggest Bristol C will be champions unless of course all the teams left in League one are truly shite, play off contenders maybe but they certainly will not run away with this league. More like our poor lacklustre showing made them look much better than they are.

We were "truly shite" last year, no question. Saving the worst, just about, for the two games v. Blades. There was a lot of determination to put that right on Saturday. This season, we intend to be an improvement on truly shite, and we've got the attacking players to do that (Baldock and JET were country's third most prolific duo last season, behind Burnley pair, I think, and Suarez and Sturridge). What we're not convinced we have got is the defenders, as Chicken With No Head points out, above, to truly turn us from shite to shit hot. But if we somehow sort that out, ie find a solid keeper, and perhaps another Nyron Nosworthy (on loan end of last season) then we will truly shite all over everything in this league, I would have thought, even you lot! Allowing for injuries, terrible refereeing and all the many other truly shite things that seemingly come out of nowhere and inexplicably bugger your season up.
Yours truly (shite. Until further notice, or away wins) bristol boy!

I'm going to disagree with most of my fellow blades, bristolboy, and say that I do think you will win automatic promotion. I said that before Saturday and still believe it to be true. However, if you start signing players like Nyron Nosworthy - forget it!!!

I think you misread my post Bristolboy, I didn't say your lot were shite, definate play off contenders probably but the only way you will be champions is if the rest of league one is truly shite. Early days yet and one game is not a lot to go on but you will need some defensive cover especially for that dirty bastard at right back who could easily have been sent off twice on yellow cards alone.

As soon as he said Nyron Notworthy,i stopped reading.I will still be laughing next weak over that.:D:D:D

Not being one of those 'In The Knows' I'm guessing now that Big Nyron played for you lot (rings a bell now, thinking about it. And remembering my google search of him when he came here) and was not a roaring success?! Presumably played for you at a higher level.

Our problem last year was goals conceded. Huge problem. We got Big Nos about Feb/ March time and he was a rock. Honest. Perhaps this shows how bad we really were at the back. You tell me? He was calm, unruffled, solid, in the right place, dependable, and although we still kept few clean sheets, the flow of goals conceded slowed enough and with goals up front, after losing at yours, we went on a great run.

People down here have been banging on about getting him back permanently. The final piece of our "jigsaw." Unable to understand why Cotterill hasn't gone back for him (he's still a free agent, I think?)

You see, you lot up there no doubt think Cotterill is a wurzel idiot with a stupid accent, thick as shit; and loads of people down here think that, too! Yes! But, some of us, we're beginning to think, maybe he's got something going on there, between his pinned back ears, and behind the pricey aftershave and goldie-looking chain. Maybe he just knows a little bit what he's doing, despite appearances. Who knows.

We'll find out, over the coming weeks and months....

Was Nos really that bad?

Nyron Notshirtworthy to give him is proper name (or one that can be repeated anyway) was one of the worse so called defenders I have seen play for us, and we have had some crap.

Let's put it this way - if you walk around the streets and step in something that a dog has deposited and it gets squeezed into the grip on the base of your shoe - that's a Nosworthy.

When describing players gaffs and howlers - we refer to them as a Nosworthy.

Before the term "Bus Wanker" was coined by the Inbetweeners - we had the word NosWanker.

You get a lot of that "misreading" of posts on these forums, don't you? Got you, now. I would agree with you on us finishing top, at the moment, we don't look a patch on Wolves or Brentford from last season. Way off. They could both defend! We need a good keeper, they make such a difference. And most here think we need a dominant centre back, a "Nyron Nosworthy," as he was for us last season!

That "dirty bastard" is a right wing-back, just to put you right on that one! As he demonstrated for both our goals, I'd say. I would also say that that "elbow," had it been from one of yours on one of ours, I would have been wanting a red card too. But it might have been accidental, only he knows. He was fortunate that the ref took the view of it that he did. Another ref, another decision quite possibly.

But come on, you're Sheffield Utd! Man up! What's happened to you lot?!

How long have you got?

all these play off disasters and semi final defeats have beat the crap out of us :D
Know the feeling. We don't do any better in play-offs, and we never finish first, so we've only got second spot to aim for, which narrows it down a bit....

If it came to us v. Blades in play-off final, the penalty shoot-out might go on a bit

We're still waiting for Simmo's penalty to land from the Huddersfield Playoff

A lot of players who played for us when we were struggling are branded crap by Blades, even if they leave, and keep playing, for higher placed clubs. Nyron's second spell was poor, but he's got some good attributes and has had a good career.

Ex-Blades currently playing at higher level than us:

..Bristol City, Pace and power upfront, solid looking defense, tough tacking midfield, and experienced in knowing how to play the officials and win free kicks.

They are not in the same class as Wolves and Brentford but this is a poorer division this season.

As for us we need to toughen up in the spine of the side, Bring Collins in, move Alcock to full back and Bring Doyle back in for Basham.

It always looked a difficult first few games but we need to get a result at Coventry/Northampton now as Peterboro away the following Game looks a bit beyond us at the moment.

Fuck me mate, thought you meant us with the title of your post !!
