Been thinking about the run in , and on reflection want it to be nip and tuck between us and the scum till may , us just pipping them to 2nd on the last day on goal difference then they lose to stevenage in the play offs , be more nervy but 20 times more satisfying
We have 9 home games left Stevenage being the highest placed club, 7 win s 1 draw 1 defeat would put us on 75 points , so 4 /5 away wins should see us there
Its in our hands

sorry typo with the 86, fat fingers

7 win s 1 draw 1 defeat would put us on 86 points

Don't want to be pedantic but that would leave us on 75 points ;) If we're serious about promotion we shouldn't be losing any of the remaining home games, and then it'll just depend on us being ruthless away, particularly with the pigs, Franchise and Udders still to play. I agree it is completely in our hands though

I'd quite like us to be well clear of Wendy to be honest. Let us and Charlton breeze up, let the pigs fight for the scraps.

ok if we get the 7 wins at home leaving us on 75 points, then win 4 or 5 away that would put us on 97 or 100 points and definately up barring real freak points haul elsewhere.
but if as we should win all 9 at home means we should ony need maybe 2 or 3 away wins to secure auto promotion, big ask i know but possible.

MunXy

Pigs have quite an easy run in and by the time we play them a big gap could have opened up,luckily for us their hoofball /nfl /basketball tactics should be nullified by some teams

The Pigs really only have us to play at the sty. Therefore I would see them gaining the same sort of points tally that we should be getting from their home games

I think pigs will struggle v several top 10 sides at home
stevenage
sheff utd
bournemouth
preston
carlisle
and 10th placed bury
its no cake walk for them
they are in fairness beating the crap sides , but only won 1 game v top 10 teams so far

I really dont know, or have any 'gut feeling' for this, the pragmatist in me says one game at a time, the optomist agrees with many of the points raised above. Experience tells me the league table doesnt lie on May 5th, if we are good enough we'll be there.

Pigs have the easier run in, in my opinion however i actually want them to win tonight so they have another away game to re-arrange thats when things get tough.

One point to make though don't discount udders in all this if they turn us over a week today then they will be favourites for 2nd IMO

On the other hand if we beat Wycombe and the weekend and Huddersfield draw at Orient (quite likely) and then we win at Huddersfield, we would then be 3 points ahead of them with 2 games in hand, which would make second look pretty remote for them.

Notwithstanding the game at Huddersfield, it is vital we win at the weekend. Not only is it three points, but even if Huddersfield win on Saturday, we will only e 2 points behind with 2 games in hand. The onus, and the pressure, will then be on them to beat us.

The same applies to Wednesday. We need to be going to the sty, 1 or 2 points behind with games in hand. Pressure on them to win, perhaps helps us.

One thing is for certain, once Feb is out of the way, if we are within touching distance of the top 2, we have every chance. I still think draws at Hudders and the Sty are good results, assuming we win our two home games this month... (and then Scunny on the 29th)

I agree.

If we avoid defeat at Wednesday and Huddersfield, we must be favourites for second.

Between Us, Huddersfield, Pigs and Mk Dons it'll be tight, trouble is, will Charlton have pulled out of sight by the end of the month.

Whilst 1st is a tough ask, we need to bring Charlton in the fight, they have so far avoided and in many ways because of the musical chairs between Us, Pigs and Hudders, they've had the pressure off in the same way that MK Franchise has.

It'll go to the wire

According to my Grandson, his premenition(sp) is we get MK Dons in the play offs, win 1-0 at home and draw away 0-0, The unmentionables get Stevenage, get tonked, and we beat Stevenage 3-0 in the play offs, would I take that? yes I would, will it happen who knows.

Make them stop, please

A couple of weeks ago you were of the opinion we had to win one of those tough three aways games, have you changed your mind?

That would require Huddersfield to finish second...I'm not convinced they will.

Was I? Can't recall that. If I did say it I have obviously have changed my mind.

That scenario would also require us scoring in a playoff final, so it can safely be ruled out...

I thought you did. i may be wrong. Someone was, but I'm damned if I can find a post.

Either way it wasn`t an accusation, just interested in why you had changed your mind. I suspect recent draws for both Wednesday and Hudds may have swayed you a little, whilst we have games in hand.

I try and look at the table without the games in hand, so we are 4 points behind second. Its not a bad situation to be honest.

Then anything we get from the games in hand is a bonus...

we've got to win a playoff final sooner or later.. it is basic probability..

As I don't recall changing my mind, I can't have (consciously) taken anything into account leading me to change it :-)

The games in hand are important to me. Basically, we will be favourites to win every game we have left, apart from Huddersfield, Wednesday and MK Dons. It follows that, if we avoid defeat in those games, the games in hand should see us move into second.

Shudder! Shudder! Shudder!

If we are in the POF this season, especially if we are facing the Pigs, I will be the one curled up in a dark corner, rocking gently backwards and forwards and frothing at the mouth.

You just know it's nailed on we will be as impotent as a room of eunuchs in the final.

Spoken like a true Blade - over optimistic with a relatively low grasp of reality.

Contrast that with the Pig fans who are over optimistic and have an over generous appreciation of self importance and their club's level of grandeur

With our record against top 6 teams i really doubt we will win at udders, a draw is a very likely scoreline seen as we haven't drawn a game since Exeter so we are due one.
