With the sheer volume and diversity of the cafes, take aways, pubs, butty shops and vans within a 5 minute walk of the ground I have to ask - what is it they sell in the ground that's so nice your determined to pay through the nose for in the first place?

true ive been going since 1998 & i think ive bought 1 thing inside in all these years, that was only because in early days of my niece coming to football, she wanted a drink, id forgot to bring one & was shocked at the price sure they wanted around 80p for a 2 finger kitkat

Might have been better off buying her a drink, rather than a kit kat if she wanted a drink.

Necking a beer in the 30 second gap you've found between using the bogs and kick-off. Oh, and buying another beer for half-time, so you don't have to queue for 20 minutes.

The Rutland was our pre-match venue of choice on Saturday. The class of clientele seemed somewhat higher than usual, Greenwich Blade apart :)

That's very true but I think the point is that it is such a wasted business opportunity.

Now I don't know the mechanics of the catering side, whether it is an outside company who pay SUFC rent or whatever, but either way the fact is that by running out of stock so early in the day simply means that they are not maximising the profits available. The serving staff are being paid for a shift whether or not there is anything to sell, so they may as well be paid for actually selling stuff and increasing profits rather than standing there apologising that there is no food left.

I've never ever eaten a morsel of food prepared in a football ground, why people want to sit there stuffing their face with anaemic looking pies whilst watching a game I have never understood.

One of my mates was a FL Linesman - the meat pie that took him out at Bury wasn't anaemic....

Compass pay a fee and united get a very small percentage of sales on top is my understanding. I guess its like the shit websites footy clubs have, they just want the upfront fee so they know where they are financially and then don't give a monkeys about the quality of whats served up

No Pies before half time v Northampton - Grrrrrrrrr

I had a meat and tatty pie off John St - bought well before kick off as young Coily wanted to see the warm ups. Surprising to say, but it was very nice, and nice and hot to boot. Never worth £3.50, but the hungry beggar that I was couldn't be choosy.

Not sure this helps Paulus - sorry! Just think of the money saved!
