That can’t be argued. But fuck me, we’ve made it easy for them. Again.
No hassling, no harrying.
86 mins, 1-0 down and we’re playing it along the back line.
1-0 down and we’re fannying around with it out wide and losing the ball rather than swinging it into the 2 forwards.
New line up every week, no continuity.
We have all the hallmarks of relegation fodder.

Where’s the fighting spirit? Where’s that ‘Sheffield steel’? Where is the Sheffield United team we saw last year and the years prior to that? We look absolutely hopeless and devoid of ideas - going down without a whimper as it stands.

Oh and one final point - why is that Scouse bastard still getting on the pitch when he’s clearly had money on us going down?

Given you a like for all bar last paragraph.

A very ‘meh’ performance. It seems acceptable to just give up against top teams for some of our fans.

We were awestruck for 20 minutes and then they kept us at arms length for the remaining 70. It could have been embarrassing so hats off to the players for half having a go but we need to stop acting like PL tourists and get back to what we did pre-lockdown.

Yes we’re missing JOC and Fleck and Lundstram is unrecognisable compared to this time last year but that starting team today wasn’t bad. We can do better than go out of the league with a whimper.

He can bollocks
It's his right to run his contract down whether we agree with it or not. He's missed a sitter and made a bollocks of it when Mcgoldrick gives him an hospital ball other than that he's not to blame for another lackluster performance. Watch how he celebrates Mitrovic's penalty miss if you think he's not bothered. It's Wilder's conundrum to sort, no one else's.

Proud as anyone with what we have achieved over the last few seasons but we are playing like cowards.

No fight, no attacking endeavour, no heart, no spirit.

Regardless of the opposition today - who played 'walking football' for the majority of that game - that was embarrassing to watch. We'd lost the match before we turned up and I hope Wilder is hurting as much as me with the comments he'll no doubt get, but that effort was garbage.

I don't mind losing in the Prem but here are ways to lose, and that isn't it.

McBurnie and Brewster's effort levels especially were atrocious. CW can blame it on the lack of crowds, etc all he wants but the effort levels at times this season are embarrassing.

Rant over.

He’s not going to be as committed as the rest when he’s running his contract down. He’s not going to risk injury naturally.
Add to that he’s fucking rubbish.

Correct. I’m fed up of it. We’ve basically given Man City and Liverpool the points gift wrapped whenever we’ve played them.

The loss of fleck and JOC can’t be understated both in terms of attacking output and combativeness

Dont think you can say the players are not trying. But i do agree that despite the oposition today. We werent very good on the ball when we had it. Gave it straight back

We didn't gift wrap anything when we played City away last season. That useless twat Kavanagh saw to that for us. And of course Deano's gaff cost us a point at the Lane, but that was one of Liverpools toughest games of the season.

Agree with your point regarding his level of performance but it's been on the wain for 6 months and Wilder keeps on picking him. Who's fault's that?

I’ll give you the Kavanagh one but after they scored we did nothing.

Wilder, no doubt. But that doesn’t mean we have to like him or it.

I agree with all of that apart from sticking it on the strikers. They are getting absolutely no service at all, consistently.

Don't write idiotic childish comments then.

So sorry forum master.

And if you took what I posted as anything other than a pisstake of "idiotic childish" comments, then I suggest you read more of what some others have posted.

City and Liverpool don’t allow teams to have time on the ball.

Couple this with us needing ten minutes of uninterrupted passing and we’re never getting a point here.

I agree we looked lacklustre, but ultimately we never had the possession or confidence to just go at them.

As Wilder likes to say, we didn't really lay a glove on them today. They looked tired and way too overconfident but we made it far too easy for them. I thought we had a cunning pan and managed to send to to sleep second half, but we then offered next to nothing.

Got to agree. I don’t want us to go down as the team that was hard to beat. Like a boxer that has the heart and chin to stay in the ring for 12 rounds, Everyone lauds over how much of a character he/she is, but keeps losing on points. Can’t keep taking this punishment.

He is in Ryan Frasier mode now I reckon.

Last season it was us doing the pressing why have we changed that side of our game

We have 'fannied about with it out wide' since league 1. We have never just swung it in to our strikers.

To be honest I didn't think that there was much difference between this performance and the city game last year. We looked second best, defending in numbers and hoping to pinch a goal. The obvious difference is that last year we were sitting pretty in the table whereas now we are anchored to the bottom.

It was a lot easier to fanny about with it when we had some creativity on the side. Now we don’t. Our best chance of scoring by far is by getting crosses into the box.
We are playing most of the same players. We played well against Liverpool, needed to play similar today to get anything and fell short.
We're on a bad run of form, why do people feel the need to convince themselves the style we are trying to play is crap and doesn't work?
