plus a shed load of extra time, you are 2-1 up, you win a corner against nine men, do you put the ball in the box and look to kill the game off, or do you try and be clever and waste time. Just why we think that with 18-19 minutes left we can try and play time out instead of going for the jugular is beyond me, eve with 9 men after equalising Brentford still looked to win the game, we need to do that, maybe Wilsons negativity is still lurking around. That corner ended up in our box! Promotion teams are ruthless and we aren't i'm affraid, you could smell an equaliser coming through lack of thought from us.
Anyhow, don't want to take to much away from the team as it was a great game and the players are now putting a shift in. I think the FA should seriously look at drug testing refs as well as players because that ref was deffo on some high grade acid.

the tactics were a wilson hangover mate. Morgan was screaming at the players to hold the line ten yards up the field

I was apoplectic at our tactics late on, and that isn't just with hindsight either, I was furious at the time too!

The problem there is the legacy of a chronic lack of pace, particularly in defence. Under Wilson we sat back to try and avoid getting caught on the break.

In the close season we need to sign a pacy full back or centre half as cover.

We need more pace at the back - even at League 1 level. Maguire, Collins & McMahon are all painfully slow and Hill isn't exactly quick. We've struggled all season against quicker strikers.

Hind sight , is such a wonderful thing , cling on or get caught on the break trying to ram home the advantage , both options were there, as it happened , the ball fell nice to wright phillips , with harry missing , had we gone gung ho for the third , hit the bar and theyd broke away and scored , no doubt theyd be slated for doing that

We didn't do either though.

We should have gone for the, pass it around the back 4 for 5 mins option. Rather than the , get it in the corner and piss around with it option.

Agree, it was pathetic. An act of cowards.

Yup, as bored as I was watching us this season I understood the logic for our method. A midfield not capable of keeping the ball + a defence with no pace = a team that just cannot play high up the pitch.

Fuck me he isnt even manager and its his fault. Nothing to do with a wilson hangover im afraid. Teams since tye beginning of time have routinely dropped deeper in this position. Blame the players, blame fatigue, blame whatever you want but its the fault of people there on the night rather than the bloke who got sacked a week or so back.

We almost got burned at Tranmere in the same way - Robson and McDonald wasted 5 minutes winning repeated corners but then Tranmere got the ball and won their own corner, for which all 11 players came up, but luckily it was overhit.

Another time when we got caught out after wasting time rather than pressing for another goal was the Oldham home game.

I agree it's cowardly. it's also not the sort of thing that wins playoff tournaments.
