EFL have no jurisdiction over anyone who's been promoted. Cardiff were eons over FFP but they announced Bobby Reid in June last year

Unless I’ve missed something, Cardiff were fully compliant with FFP in 2017/18 for their promotion season – I’m not sure where the ‘eons over’ has come from, as Madine aside they spent very little. They were not compliant however in 2016, when a transfer embargo was put on them – is that what you were thinking of? They announced various signings in June last year – I think Murphy was the highest, but re: the OP I wouldn’t be surprised if those were officially processed July 1 to avoid being in the FFP total.

Yes but it would be a little naive of a newly promoted club not to have 25.

A squad as small as 19 (registered) players but bolstered by u21 players expected to get game time.
Wolves had 19 players but 3 of their U21 players got significant game time too.
Across the season Wolves used 21 players (I guess one of the squad never saw the pitch).

Why would it? It doesn’t include players under 21. It would make more sense to spread your resources over, say 22 decent players than have a squad of 25 that includes a couple of dubious signings.

Almost all the clubs who didn’t name 25 had under 21 players who played regular. We don’t have any of those and any new ones are unlikely due to cost.

I think they’ve also got a couple of very good young Brazilians on their books that they can’t get into the country due to work permit issues and have loaned them out to Girona I think. Too much talent.
