The World Cup

I’ll stick by my own view of why there’s only ever been one trophy, and that was on home soil. And I think Tuchel was spot on with his comment about the inability of players to hold on to the ball.

I’ve heard the excuse about the EPL being so awash with overseas players that England managers only have a small pool to pick from compared to similarly sized nations, but there’s a reason for that, and it’s the same reason that so few English players make it in La Liga or other major leagues.

It’s an opinion, but if you think that, per capita, the quality and mentality of English players are on a par with those of other nations, fair play, we can disagree.

We've never really been able to control a game through possession and patterns of play but I do think we're starting to produce more technical players.

I thought it was such a shame we didn't bring someone like Adam Wharton who has a bit more control in his locker and Foden / Palmer, massively out of form, do offer a bit more of that also (the latter should have been there).

The problem with Tuchel's subs was that we just accepted that it was going to be an attack v defence scenario and that we couldn't do anything about it. We had nothing going the other way and their centre backs were able to play in our third at times. With the players we had on the bench, that was absolutely criminal.

The problem with Foden and Palmer is that if they’re off it they offer very little. Foden is no longer a regular starter for City and they both flatter to deceive a lot. They both have flair, but neither is anywhere near world class in my opinion. They wouldn’t have made a huge difference.

I agree with you on Wharton though.

The pitch was full of English and French players. English & French as a nationality doesn’t = white.

It’s a moot point and completely understandable that some would see it as steeped in racist context.

The problem with people like Blade in Flame and other Chuds hooked on Konstantin Kisin podcasts is that they do not believe you can be Black and English.

Far less excited about this final than the last one. Spain are good but dour and well.. Argentina are Argentina and have already had that "win it for Messi" win so don't even have that going for them.

Last night was Mickey Mouse. Which is fair enough for such a silly game. Enjoyable in a I can't believe this is a thing kind of way.

Overall been a good world cup. Can't help but think some players are going to be knackered as club football returns in a few weeks

I thought they had conpromised and agreed on 17 minutes. Interested to see what actually happens.
Maybe. But a linked article says they also have to set up and take down the equipment ilhas to be added on??
Also, Trump and Infantino need to circle the ground, side by side in a flying solid gold eagle.

Which obviously means there will be no comeback from FIFA.

Fair game for political slogans and banners then from here on in.
Probably worth letting Russia back in too, while we are at it.

No poppies though. That really would be a step too far.

Look at the tiny pocket of Spain fans behind the goal, middle tier

Is that the best we can do for a fucking world cup final?

Should not both sets of fans be guaranteed a similar, substantial number of tickets in equivalent parts of the ground?

Ticketing in especially these finals is something that never gets better

Im looking forward to the HT entertainment being kids in sumo suits dribbling balls to the goal, a crossbar challenge done by some fat lads from the local bar who won a raffle or the local garage driving their new cars around the pitch.
Maybe a jack Russell on the pitch sometime too?

Retro is best.

F*ck Trump!
