The value of Done

Individually perhaps. As a unit, none of them have performed nearly as well as ours is at the moment.

Point is, I'm sure our previous midfields would have looked like world beaters against Oldham, Bury, Swindon etc. I appreciate they're playing well and looking impressive but you have to remember the level we're at compared to years gone by.

Despite the Runarounders' spin, their man gave his usual performance. Ran around a lot and missed chances. I knew he would.

Yeah, I thought you might slither back out from under your rock once one of your targets were mentioned.

Beyond parody, but then again that's the whole point I suppose.

The previous midfield were either part of a team shaping up to be relegated from the championship, or failing to get out of this league.

This one won't.

I respectfully disagree. Weve maybe had better individuals - Quinn, McDonald and Williamson spring to mind - but as a trio they are the best we've had since Brown/Tonge/McCall - and by some margin.
*ahem* Ndlovu.

Not a glass half-full man then

I am, mate. I really am. I am hugely enjoying the football our team is playing under the excellent, inspirational Tufty. But Tufty is already planning improvements as he builds his team. He doesn't intend to stand still.

Don't expect Done to be a first team regular in 2017. Tufty expects his strikers to score more than a pitiful two goals, whatever their other attributes. He's quite right too. When he thinks of our starting XI for next August, Done's name is conspicuous by its absence. You can bet on that.

Sorry, Runarounders. Maybe go and support whichever team to which your intrepid hero is eventually offloaded?....

Done is far from the best player in the team and may well get replaced at some point, but I thought he played very well today, just needs a goal to get some confidence back

Yes, his runninaround was very impressive. His attempts to play football, less so....

Nah, staying right here in glorious S2 thanks. Feel free to slither off yourself though by all means. The embarrassment of being constantly wrong will dawn on you eventually.

shocking comment

Anyone else read that to the tune of 'power of love'?

That's not gonna be in my head all night. not at all.

No mate, had this tune, "The Wonder of You", by Elvis

"When every other players tiring,
without the strength to carry on,
One man out there just keeps running
and that man is Matty Done

I guess I'll always know
the reason why
we love you like we do

that's the value

the value of Done...."

So funny that he got a bigger ovation than Duffy....

He was OK. Never looks like scoring. Swindon were shocking defensively. We ran riot. Really glad Lavery scored.
So after a great performance and win the most important thing is who gets an arguably bigger ovation , really ?
He got the ovation because he has been missed the last few games when we haven't scored and MOST fans realise this and want him to know he is needed. Sadly some don't.

I'd agree with some of that, but then you fuck it up with your last line, no need for it.
We're in second place now, out of a sticky patch, four goals today and you want to pick holes in one player?
Team game, mate, team game.

Let's keep it simple, sharp and done start, run teams dizzy, lavery and Clark in for half hour. Keep it like that and we are on to a winner.
The best middle in the league, scougs to roam!! What a great time it is to be a blade.

So your hugely enjoying the football we are playing, we went on a 15 match unbeaten run and at one point were also the top scorers in Europe yet were carrying a player you regard as not good enough? Nobody has said he's the long term answer but he has more than played his part in helping us to where we are now. Surely even you can see that or does your dislike of him always cloud your judgement?

You know, it's really easy to sit from an ivory tower and say that you "call out mediocrity."

If, after a 4-0 win, you decide to come on to a forum and only type negatives, I think that says a lot about you.

Done may not be in Wilder's team in the future, but please don't insult our intelligence by pretending you know Wilder personally... the "Tufty expects this", "Tufty expects that" line doesn't make you right.

He's a malignant individual who posts exclusively to air tiresome agendas and boring vendettas. Don't expect any objectivity with him, ever.

As I said before kick-off, I wanted Done to play well and score. It's there in black and white. Unfortunately the Runarounders are not so fair minded. They have a tantrum when the limited trier is rightly left out. They then fervently hope that the player Tufty picks in his place fails.

I support United, whether my favourite [Paul Coutts as it happens] is selected or not. Not so the Runarounders; they squeal like pigs when Tufty leaves the non-striker out. I did not invite them to support another team; merely surmised that they might, such is their devotion to old Nogoals.
