I saw several ugly wins when achieving promotion with Hecky.
Where we were poor/ disjointed for long spells but score from some N'Diaye or McAtee magic...then we'd spend the last 30 minutes parking the bus.
Opposition fans would often comment we looked no better than a mid table team during that promotion season.

However last night was different.....wasn't exactly ugly.....I'd say a game of 2 halves (2 extremes).
We were really poor 1st half, totally outplayed when it comes to passing the ball but our defence looked comfortable
but 2nd half we were back to our normal decent selves and played quite well creating loads of chances.

We didn't sit back and park the bus (apart from in the 4 minutes injury time) and at no time did Swansea look like scoring.

The 1st half was shocking with zero entertainment, never known the crowd be so quiet.
2nd half was much much better. We looked more of a promotion chasing side and were easily the better team, quite entertaining too.
However it's becoming a concern that we're not scoring from good chances.
Our goals scored this season have mainly been difficult moments of magic from Hamer or own goals. I'm sure our strikers will start scoring tho.

No doubt we have to up our goals tally or we will get punished down the line.
Blades found it difficult 1st half as the Swans sat on us keeping the ball with no real threat ( 1 chance and it was a goodun) A lot of ball retention thrown away as we fo
und it difficult to make any impact, inexperience really showed amongst some of the players. The pleasing bit 1st half was the resilience we showed to stop Swansea create much at all.
Should have put them to bed 2nd half ! Just a combination of bad luck and finishing kept the game in the balance 1-0 is never a comfortable situation to be in but saw it out well.
I thought Keiffer Moore was tremendous in the last half hour showed what he's all about very unlucky with the one that hit the post.
Some tough matches coming up ! Come through them unbeaten and we will really start to beleave we can do it.

.

Ferguson always used to chime on about grinding them out / win ugly . Sign of a good team being put together . We are the Arsenal of the north ( without wanker fans )

Enjoyed as always. Still trying to conure up what a 'bag of hammered ass' looks like.

Ugly wins count as well, but I think it was only ugly in the first half and then in the last ten minutes when after not being able to finish the game off we started to drop back and panic.

The problem with ugly wins and not being able to score goals is that it only last for so long, suddenly it becomes an ugly defeat, and because no confidence has been previously built up with good wins an ugly defeat starts a downward trend

Something has to give. Our forwards have been massively unlucky to start the season. If we can get Brooks, O’Hare, and Moore clicking, we won’t lose many games considering how strong our back line has been in not conceding.
