The Ugliest Goal Ever Scored?

I remember playoffs v Sunderland first leg at the lane. We scored an absolute worldy through Vas's free kick and the other was incredibly ugly. Saunders and Marcelo taking about 500 attempts to force the ball over the line.

Did Luke Chadwick score it?

Apparently...

I don't know about anybody else but I love to see goalmouth scrambles and edge-of-your-seat action like that.
I miss it!

Not sure who actually scored in that clip as the ball doesn't seem to cross the line at any point.

Looks like David Holdsworth managing to hit the post from an inch out with no one to beat. Impressive that was!

Based on the kit that was the 96/97 season and the goal was scored by Kachuro (allegedly!) to give us the lead in a 1-1 draw.

He's also wrong saying it was a league game. It was the FA Cup 3rd round on 4 Jan 1997.

Do you know i thought it was because i went to it, am i right in saying we played them in the cup 2 years running?

The league game at the Lane a month later was pretty daft too. Lost 3-2 live on Sky and Noway's No.1 Roger Nilsen ended up in goal. Went to the match and remember the ferry crossing home being rough as fuck.

Was that the one with a freak OG? Bounced in after hitting one of our defenders?

I'm not sure if "scruffy" would be the right word for it but I've always thought Deano's goal that great day at Leicester in May, 1990, was the most incident-packed one I ever saw.

Like a good play, it had a beginning, a middle and an end with an interval halfway through during which you could have a pint or mash a pot of tea, depending on personal preference.

And like the best plays, it had a happy ending.

Definitely WASN'T a goal, i was there, even now watching it im angry the Blades missed so many opportunities to score in those 10 seconds.

It was great walking out of the stadium to smug Norwich fans, mixed with the guy on the mic saying, well done to Sheff Wed who have beaten Grimsby 7-0, a right kick in the bollocks for the 3 hr drive home.

I was sat behind the goal with my Norwich supporting mate. Yes, FA Cup in January 1997. A very cold day. This incident was early in the 1st half. Patterson took the corner and it was headed towards the goal that was half cleared and there was confusion and scramble before a Blade player (not sure who) hits a half hit shot straight to Holdsworth whose poke was blocked by Gunn but hits the rebound against the inside of the post and it went to Katchouro who had a completely open net but he whacked it against the bar!. The Norwich fans around me looked at each other in disbelief and cheered. John Polston scored Norwich's goal at the other end

I remember a Bob Booker goal against Southampton in front of the Kop. If I remember right he was about six yards out with an open goal, he managed to fall over, the Southampton players stood open mouthed at what they had seen and Booker was able to stand up and toe poke it in. Only Sir Bob could score a goal like that!

That was the first game I ever attended. With hindsight it was a rather apt opening for a lifetime supporting the blades.

I remember this. We seemed to be on a run of never winning a cup game so hitting the woodwork 3 times in one scramble seemed to sum up our cup exploits. Obviously it ended the following season with a run to the semi finals.

Wasn't Michel Vonk's disastrous debut a year or so earlier against Norwich? I think they were a bogey team for us at the time. I do remember Borbokis having one of his finest games against them at the Lane though.
